When the cat is away, the mice are at play! I cannot help but recall this in the context of Armaan and Ruhi. While Rohit was around, Armaan established very clear boundaries and told Ruhi she was his brother’s wife. Note that it was not about him being married at that point but rather Rohit. After his disappearance, Armaan decided that he had to indulge Ruhi to whatever extent possible so she could stay on at their home, since that is what his family wanted. If Armaan and Ruhi were not ex-lovers, this would still make some sense because the family sometimes bends over backwards to please one of the members for whatever reason. However, these two people share history. So any interaction between them is going to be seen through that lens. I would have still been okay with this story if Armaan had continued to profess love for Ruhi, maintained his distance from Abhira given that theirs was purely a relationship of convenience. Armaan and Ruhi can be shown trying to deal with their overflowing emotions in the absence of Rohit. Instead Armaan is shown establishing physical proximity with Abhira. That there is the problem. Not proximity with Ruhi but proximity with Abhira. What if someone had made a video of that sexy dance number with Ruhi and shared it with the family ? It was a public event after all. Is this the level of indulgence that Dadisa and Maasa expect from Armaan? What if Rohit were to come back and see this video ? Is he going to hug his brother for being so bold and honest as to flaunt his equation with Ruhi in public ? Considering that Armaan doesn’t know Rohit knows the truth, how would he expect Rohit to react if he were to see that video or get to know somehow of that infamous tryst in that hut? Does Armaan believe that Rohit is dead? Is that why he is throwing caution to the winds every now and then in terms of Ruhi? If we are to see Armaan as the victim and Ruhi as the harasser, the truth is the victim will try every means possible to avoid being alone with the harasser. We have not seen that behaviour from Armaan. On the contrary, he goes to her often willingly and not on the request of family. If we have to accept that he has lingering feelings for Ruhi, then he is still immoral in not establishing clear emotional and physical boundaries with Abhira. Whichever way you see it, he is coming across as disloyal and two-faced. I would regard loyalty as the single-most important quality in my partner, be it physical or emotional. I can handle anger issues and arrogance but not disloyalty. In a love story, you expect loyalty to be the cornerstone of that relationship. When that is missing, it becomes very difficult to root for the couple, whether Armaan-Ruhi or Armaan- Abhira . I understand that in the original from which this show has been inspired, the male lead made huge concessions for his sister-in-law in the name of friendship. Howvever, he did clearly state his feelings for the female lead, his wife. The writers there did not make the mistake of keeping his motives ambiguous. Maybe Armaan’s motives aren’t either but, after three months, an indecisive man is not very appealing. His childhood trauma or whatever cannot be used to justify his behaviour all the time, certainly not the party dance, the restaurant date and the hug and the bangle scene among others. Give up one woman or the other Armaan, before the audience gives up on you. Because the story is on a loop and is not engaging enough to put up with the shenanigans of a male lead who cannot make his point of view clear.

I am surprised Ruhi-Ar winning couple trophy didn't reach Dadisa's ears but Ab running out of house certainly did
