I agree that Jab We Met was a once in a lifetime film that just happened to come out at the right time. You can't replicate the magic of a film like that and I say that as someone who cannot stand Kareena but that film/performance has stood the test of time. Trying to manufacture the factors that created that film will never work and that's most evident from the fact that Kareena herself kept trying to play Geet 2.0 in other films like Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and she was unable to charm audiences again from replicas.

You can watch Ananya-Sara episode of KWK this season.

Ananya (without mentioning JWM ) said that she wants to keep working and is willing wait for her right moment or something. To which KJO nodded that that yes it will happen, and then she will be loved.

Funny because Ananys has already been in the industry for 5 years, and she is still waiting for her "right moment".smiley36

Even during Alia-Kareena episode, Jab We Met was mentioned when KJO asked who from the younger lot could play Geet in JWM remake?

Alia was pissed why her name was not included.smiley36

Sorry just saw this. I saw highlights of the Ananya/Sara episode. Have no interest in either of them, especially the former, to stomach the whole episode.

KJo's optimism makes me wonder if he really believes Ananya will have that one movie and become loved or if he's just stringing her along for as long as SRK keeps bankrolling her career.

Lol I think it's hilarious that Alia is so desperate to take Kareena's rejects. Doesn't Alia know that the real A-List actresses consider it an insult to openly admit to wanting another actress' role. Rani and Kajol both made very clear in an old episode that they would never be interested in stealing the other's role.

More than Shilpa, it's Salman who deserves an award for playing an HIV infected person who passes it on to Shilpa's character.

Why did Shilpa character dedicate the award to Salman's character rather than Abhishek's character? šŸ¤”šŸ˜šŸ™„

Story idea was good but execution bad.

I'm actually surprised that Salman agreed to play an HIV infected person. He was more daring with his roles back in the 2000s between this and Tere Naam. Sadly he did not get the box office success then (and his biggest hit at the time was the regressive No Entry) so it's no wonder he switched to action films after Dabaang was a success.

I could never see Salman playing that role today even though the stigma of HIV is less now.

No problem.smiley1

Actually, Ananya might be the only one who might actually have a breakthrough at some point. (according to me)

She was good in Gehrariyan, and Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. (I watched it recently and I was pleasantly surprised. It“s a perfect film reflecting the lives of GenZ)

She does well in urban girl roles. Her dialogue delivery is better than Sara, Jhanvi, Khushi and Suhana and she looks good on camera.

She is actually the one at lowest position in the Nepo hierarchy. I do not think SRK is bankrolling Ananya's career. Yes, she and her parents are close to SRK's family but that's just about it.

Her film choices are not well-curated, unlike Alia or Jhanvi or Sara. Hence, I have a feeling she might leapfrog her other nepo-sisters at some point, because she will focus on improving her craft.

The problem is with her off-screen personality. She is young and not very articulate and ends up making a fool of herself whenever she speaks publicly. If I was her friend, I would advice her to stay away from Social Media and giving interviewssmiley36. She is a soft target.

Yes by a long shot. And this is coming from a Rani fan.

Here's how I would have ranked the nominees if I go strictly by acting:

1. Shilpa, Phir Milenge

2. Urmilla, EHT

3. Kareena, Chameli

4. Preity, VZ

5. Rani, HT

6. Ash, Raincoat

Rani was very, very good in HT, but that year was stacked by great performances and Rani's win for HT wasn't that well deserved IMO. But that was Rani's year, and these are popularity awards so I understand.

Is she the popular choice this year ?

I think a lot of people are looking at HumTum as a regular RomCom ..

But even in that space , Rani’s character was really progressive and path breaking for those times (early 2000’s)… There was an entire gamut of emotions displayed on screen by her .. right from being a tomboy to being a widow and especially the choice she makes at the climax of rejecting Saif’s proposal after he felt guilty.

Rani recently said in an interview that Adi C thought she would say no to the film as that choice in the end was unusual for mainstream heroines (pre marital sex)but Rani took up that challenge ..

Yes, I agree. Not only is she a widow who has to fight society's expectations to marry again but her relationship with Saif also becomes one with premarital sex, which I remember was considered groundbreaking then. This was definitely a trailblazing role at the time and Rani's character is never shamed for consummating her relationship with Saif.

All her romcoms back then were always distinctive such as Saathiya and Chalte Chalte which both showcased life after marriage rather than assuming the typical happily ever after.
