Let me start by saying I am a huge Hirani fan. Munnabhai & 3 Idiots are amongst my top 5 Bollywood movies of all time. I also love srk and so this was my most awaited movie of the year! But unlike Jawan and Pathan that I watched in theaters for srk this year, this I watched for Hirani and I was disappointed ☹️
This is definitely hirani’s weakest movie. I don’t know who is his target audience for this story? I don’t think the majority audience will feel much for the characters. In all his previous movies especially 3 idiots, lage raho, munnabhai the messages are so real and heart touching and you instantly relate to them. and that’s why they work. It is majorly missing here. You feel good after watching Hirani’s movies (other than sanju maybe), but here you don’t feel touched or happy after watching Dunki. The song “badi durr se aaye hai” is well shot and that’s probably the only place I felt emotional.
Srk was great in his role which looked tailor made for him. Taapsee was very average. Vicky kaushal was good in his small role. Boman Irani was wasted. First half is still okay. Second half just drags.
I don’t think this will work and I am just disappointed with Hirani. As a fan I expected much much better.

...and I understand the POV of those who genuinely did not like the movie...not every one will like the movie even if it was Oscar worthy.
