Actually the patriarchy is so deep rooted in the mind of Indians - Rich and Poor alike, that sometimes we don’t even realize that what we’re uttering sounds weird & unfair. But he doesn’t seem like someone who practices patriarchy.

You're right.. he may not be doing it consciously. But it's so deeply ingrained that he is practising without realizing it.
