I agree..I dint like when Rani did that as well..Rocky’s Dad was way out of line..but Rani needn’t have done that at all..she did apologise na..when they came for rishta..she looks pretty sincere about her being in the wrong too. Her Dad was the best! I loved how level headed and calm he always was…whether it was dealing with Rocky aur Rani...the actor was marvellous in this role ..!! 👏👏
She apologized only when his dad comes home to her and apologizes first. (Like Rocky said, his dad was talking to his son and never misbehaved with her directly. She had no business eavesdropping on a father son convo annd react so out of the line)Anyway, Rocky toh has already forgiven her even before she asked for the apology.
There are other things also which she gets called out for right away by Rocky or her dad several times. First she finds it amusing that Rocky would wear such cleavage exposing shirt but would she be ok if Rocky were to comment on her bra in the name of blouse? Rocky got cheered in my theater when he right away calls her hypocrisy out in such a casual manner that too without trying to make a point like how Rani does with every line she utters.
Next when she proposes to him, a role reversal from pride and prejudice. She literally told him you are so out of my league but I still love you despite myself. What makes this ok when we all whined Mr.Darcy said the same thing to Elizabeth? But Rocky being Rocky, just embraces her with all her flaws. That’s what has made me also warm upto her. Rocky teaches us to love people along with their flaws.
I think KJo tried to make Rani’s character extra spunky, sexy, and what not and fell short of his vision for the character. It’s Rocky, with all his flamboyance and lack of finesse, who comes out shining as the most layered and nuanced character. And Ranveer’s brilliant performance just takes it to another level. When Rani falls for Rocky at the first meeting itself, the audience was falling for him too along with her.
Btw another thing I didn’t like was how they completely excluded daadi from the wedding. That was just odd. Makes me wonder if Jaya ji ran out of the dates.
