Let’s begin..so from the start to end - here is the analysis - the flashback story of the Randhawas opens the movie and it was a hilarious take on the tragicomedy of that family..and then ofcourse teen deviyan cameo..which was whatever.. but once Rocky’s intro song ends..the movie begins and there is not one dull moment in its close to 3 hours of run time. You can see how much fun Ranveer has playing this character..also the subtitles were hilarious..because they also literally spell out his bad English..which somehow elevates the humour even more 😆 You feel sorry for Kanwal Dadu (Dharmendra) character right from the opening scene. Jaya is obviously a very khadoos character all throughout..but I do feel her character is too black ..even though she is a successful entrepreneur and the one who set up a whole business..but it’s a classic case of a boomer making Gen X’s life hell..and so on..I mean there are many real life Dadis like that so it does hit home..that no matter if she herself built a career..she still treated other women like dirt and the whole parampara pratishta anushasan thing..I mean KJo basically played it to the galleries with Dhanvantari and how Jaya is in real life atleast in front of the media. Coming to Alia and her family..I just loved all the Chatterjees yaar..also the sets that KJo has created..this movie is literally made to be watched on 70 mm..the interior design of Chatterjee house was so gorgeous! Loved that verandah where they held those culture clubs. And Alia - KJO knows for sure how to present his heroines..believe me when I say this..I always thought Alia is a PYT or cute..but she is literally a sultry classy siren in this movie..and doesn’t look like a kid at all..her look and those gorgeous linen Sarees were to die for!! Shabana was meh for me..but all the other actors were fab! This movie is actually woke in a more palpable sense unlike other pseudo woke movies! Ranveer and Alia’s chemistry is fire and that is because of how well these two extreme different characters interact with each other..Rocky’s energy and innocence and humour gets balanced out by Rani’s fiery and no holds bar attitude and straight forward approach to life..the kissing scenes are cringe yea..but them together are just love!! I laughed, cried and hooted so many times..and I kid you not the audience was having an absolute blast..!! Also I love the integration of old songs.and What Jhumka and Dhindora specially look stunning on screen! I specially loved the Kathak performance of Ranveer with Alia’s Dad. I think many people clapped in the theatre when it ended. Also one of my most favourite scenes is when Alia, Rocky’s sister and Rocky’s mother sing Aap jaisa koi together (Alia’s Karachi night suit was awesome btw..I want I want 😆) the most impactful scene was between Dharmendra and Aamir Bashir..I was crying because it was obvious what was going to happen after that..even the ending montage sequence was just so dang beautiful…nobody got up from the audience..everyone literally was sitting till the last end credit rolled out..uff the movie was so good looking actually..for all his faults..KJo actually knows how to make a proper grand contemporary movie still laced with family values ..the story was predictable obviously but the presentation was amazing and entertaining..also omg how did I forget..my most favourite bond in the movie is between Rocky and Rani’s dad..that scene where Rocky calls out the cancel culture..uff so good! Well written! Like I said there isn’t a single dull moment in the movie. There were only two scenes which I dint particularly like - the bra shopping one and that ad..if we talk about equality..let’s actually talk about equal rights and 50-50 partnership..there needn’t be a lopsided division favouring either gender..which was a problem with Barbie as well..but otherwise as an audience..this is the Bollywood I like..commercial cinema with beautiful locations, set pieces and good messaging as well..I will definitely watch this movie again..which is not the case with most BW movies these days..so kudos to KJo..I’m sad that the collections are still low..but I am positive that once more people watch it..it will generate a mostly positive WOM and gain more viewership eventually. 9/10 from my side..thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it!
Ranveer looked lusty lmao
Cringe making out

I take this back. I didn’t feel any cringe wringe. Rocky and Rani looked like they belonged together. Ek jaan do jism types and nothing they did or said to each other looked out of place or awkward let alone cringe..☺️❤️

I also didn’t like how she physically handles his father and then doesn’t even apologize despite being called out by her own family. I felt they went a little too far with it. Rani is like walking talking preaching and judging machine completely contradicting what she thinks she stands for, rightly called out by her own dad.
As someone who completely stands for not fixing what a man and woman should do,the kathak storytrack really affected me the most.
I hated how Rani's father was mocked,we see that in real life too.
Men doing kathak or any Indian classical dance is so great,I love watching their performances.

Ikr. Her dad’s story made me cry and when Rocky and him do the Dola re bit, people in my theatre were literally hooting, whistling, cheering and clapping. If I have to choose one peak moment in the movie, that would be it.

Them and Kawal and Jamini reunion were the biggest moments in the theatre. Loudest cheers and claps.
I agree..I dint like when Rani did that as well..Rocky’s Dad was way out of line..but Rani needn’t have done that at all..she did apologise na..when they came for rishta..she looks pretty sincere about her being in the wrong too. Her Dad was the best! I loved how level headed and calm he always was…whether it was dealing with Rocky aur Rani...the actor was marvellous in this role ..!! 👏👏Originally posted by: loginidran
