I just stumbled across this story a few days ago and I must say, I am hooked! I have been binge reading it and finally am all caught up!
You are an amazing writer Arpita! I have ready some good books where the timelines are switched to keep the story more gripping and interesting. Also helps in having twists and some suspense that keeps the reader hooked and wanting more and that is exactly what you have done!
You really have a way about writing about emotions and feelings about these characters and make them come alive as I read the story. No one is perfect - yes, even Khushi may have some flaws :-). She wears her heart on her sleeve and because of her unconditional love for Arnav, she accepts him with all his flaws. Her compassion and kindness make her all the more likeable to everyone.
Arnav is a much more complex character. Even though he is sent away from the village at a young age, he takes it upon himself to be responsible for all his family's needs and that, directly and indirectly has taken a toll on him. In the process, he has also given up many dreams. After marrying Khushi, he does fall in love with her, but to him love is also protecting her and keeping her happy and safe. Once he realizes he cannot give her the child she wants so badly, he thinks because he cannot keep her happy, he also does not love her.
When you love someone, sometimes sacrifices have to be made. Arnav has made his share too - he has sacrified his ambitions for college, once for his family and again later for his own career goals. But with the matter of becoming a father, he does not want to give an inch! I cannot imagine that he does not have a strong reason or reasons for not having a child. I assume that this a part of his history that has to be revealed :-) It may have something to do with Anjali and the baby girl she had. She has now cut off relations with him and we dont know much about that.
Infidelity is something that is very hard for a woman to tolerate. Arnav is drowned in guilt, so much so that he cannot even face Khushi once the act is done. It will be a tough road to redemption for him to gain Khushi's acceptance, forgiveness and move on with her, if ever.
For her, this is the time to use all her talents and learn to be more independent and do things for herself!
