Harry Potter reboot. Is it needed?

Harry Potter is being rebooted as a series by Warner Bros. It would stream on HBO Max and would have 10 seasons.

Its true that a series would be a more faithful adaptation of the books than the movies because of a longer duration.

The movies from the third installment started cutting down info from the books, which often made them confusing. Some things in the movies make no sense if you think deeply about it and haven't read the books.

But would it have a more authentic portrayal of Hogwarts, wizarding world and characters like they were described in the books? I don't think so. Creative liberties would still be taken.

Harry Potter movies despite all its criticism were lightning in a bottle. Its not a small feet that they managed to complete the movies in time. Any delay would have resulted in disruption because the child actors were growing fast. It took great timing, commitment and patience to complete the movies.

The movies also had legendary senior actors. The series won't have them. So we won't get to see the same remarkable acting talent.

Biggest reason a reboot at this point is not needed is because the movies are still popular and fresh in audience mind. The actors have became iconic in their roles. Fans also didn't ask for a reboot. They want to see new stories, wizarding world from other characters POV. The universe is vast. They can do so much. A reboot telling the same story is lazy cash grab.

If they think they can beat Chris Columbus' magic or Cuaron's Azkaban then they are sadly mistaken. Also most actors who have starred in the series are best known for their respective roles from the franchise. It'd be a far cry to expect new actors ro outshine them. It'd probably end up like the LOTR series crap that came on Prime a while back. Did anyone even care to watch it?

I'd rather watch Marauders - their origin and the first war against Tom Riddle honestly, if at all I'm even watching.

Absolutely no need, the books and movies were great. They will cast child actors who are likely to be brutally trolled and compared to the original actors. I hope they have therapists on set to take care of everything. At the end of the day, HBO is concerned about making money, not the well-being of kids.

Rowling has final creative control. They can't make any sequels or spin-offs because Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson will not be seen anywhere near her now. The lead actress for fantastic beasts quit the third film for the same reason. And more big name British actors will probably avoid being involved.

Fantastic Beasts and Rowling's other books do show that she struggles with writing another story. So it's probably best to just redo the same story.

The other question is need. But what entertainment product is really needed?

The funny thing is they will probably cast a black kid as atleast one of the 3 leads. And then Rowling and Zaslav will realise the conservative audience currently supporting Rowling will completely abandon her. 😆

I lost interest with the movies itself. I never have read the books either.

After the way my vampire diaries original concept got messed bec of the show and female hormones , sorry no offence to anyone, going wild for Ian, just ruined it.

Aftter that, I think anything as such will just be a dissappointment for the ardent fans.

Two Harry Potter books - specifically Goblet of Fire and Half Blood Prince deserve a long format representation..frankly the movies were too condensed but as someone who absolutely adores HP novels..I am open to the TV series..I’m just worried with so much lobbying going on by some groups that they are out there to just malign everything HP and JK Rowling related. Honestly fed up of the way things are going in the socio cultural diaspora in the west..

Another mess like The Rings of Power. They shouldn't touch the public's favorite sagas 😐 just stop it.

They’re remaking Harry Potter again either because they’re not creative enough to come up with new ideas that’ll sell and/or because Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson all spoke out against JK Rowling’s transphobia and she doesn’t want them associated as the leads.

It will most likely be Hermione but I can’t imagine how they will handle making fun of her hair or her attempt to fight for elf rights. As far as I can remember she compared this to slavery and others made fun of her for that. Now her being black changes this scenario. Would anyone dare to this now 🤔

They can’t erase the red heads, Harry is the main character so he has to be white.

Lavender Brown was initially black but as soon as she had to speak they changed her race from black to white.
