Maybe it's just me, no offence intended, but movies and TV is the last place where I look for advice/examples on how to live my life and deal with real life situations.
I know ITV paints women in a very toxic way (except rare cases) and mostly only watch for the chemistry btw lead couples until even that can't keep me from tuning out anymore.
This might be an unpopular opinion here, but Saaya bore me to death: 0 chemistry!
Unfortunately TIIC purposefully casted a man for Sai that she has no romantic chemistry with and the SL doesn't really help much... he might be a much better man than V, but Saaya being a bore doesn't make me want to watch their scenes together (whereas, no matter how s*hitt* a person V is, any Sairat scenes are still enjoyable due to the actors' chemistry).
Add to that the very little development given to the Adhikaari family: there was no need to add an entire family when they were gearing up for a generation leap: Virakhi divorcing, V trying to convince Sai for a chance and her resisting and them eventually confronting their issues would've made for a better SL.
Guess the moment people start rejecting the glorification of abusive love, shows like Ghum won't survive, yes the makers of such shows dont owe moral responsibility but they do lead to people becoming toxic.. a lot of videos are there all over internet where there are women talking abt the association they feel with leading lady's characters..SP themselves showed few where Anu helped a woman move on in life, SP even with all its regressive content has been successful in giving good message.. this show failed there and the acceptance it got from well educated women is what disheartens me.. Dissociation with the whole muck that this show has been showing since it's commencement because u see you should not follow fiction is not all.. Nobody can deny than in a emotion driven country, entertainment does become a reality.. a lot of women wanted a man like Kabir singh because of glorified the character was in movie.. there is a reason why "Hasi toh Phasi" was used in real life yo harass women, women colleagues and friends, they are still being used, in this age and time.
The least we can do is call it out..Instead of dissociation with the morality aspect of it, i guess it was better if individuals dissociate with the show..the fact is no body Sairat fans, Satya fans, Sai or Virat fans, or even Patralekha fans signed up for the show that Ghum has become today.. That's enough to call out the show and channel if not sense of morality.
I do feel there is line to the whole belief system of " Tv show hi toh hai"! If everybody saw it that way , Pehredaar Piya ki would have been successful as well..kids women young girls, young boys, everyone get affected with what they consume in form of entertainment, love stories on a daily basis
In any case I am sorry if I have offended anyone with my post, its what i Feel when it comes to content that is easily available to everyone easily now.
