I suppose they wanted to focus on the protagonist vs antagonist angle because - frankly - John was excellent as cynical villain set against someone who listens to his heart.

However, Deepika undeniably gives a surprisingly strong performance which leaves a favorable impression, imo.

Although I'm not a friend of judging a movie according to the boxoffice result, I admit, that THIS time, I'm also engrossed in the daily reports and I'm immensely happy about each record Pathaan breaks. Especially the domestic BO is vital for SRK's position, reputation and satisfaction, I think. Yet I don't buy that numbers are fudged as SRK as well as YRF are aware that the BOI most probably is closely monitored.

Okay so I’ve watched 3 times in theatres now and I can 100% confirm;

My favourite scene is the post Besharam rang song scene with John in the pool and SRK surrounded by his goons

The funniest scene unintentionally is SRK and John racing at 100mph on ice which looked great, and then out of nowhere Deepika pops up on ice skates at 120mph. Always makes me lol does that scene

Salman’s entry is excellent on all 3 watches

the movie is just a very good crisp action movie with good direction, action, dialogue, actors, witty lines, pretty people and everyone did great in their part, but srk is in the entire movie with the burden falling on him, John was a very charismatic good looking villain (not common in Indian cinema) but for me the scene stealer was Deepika not John, I wanted more of her , more scenes, more dialogue, more romance with srk, and definitely more songs. I didn't like Jhoome jo Pathan and had watched besharam rang only a couple of times before the watching the movie but now watch them on loop. Deepika and I think srk and deepika chemistry was the initial draw because there really wasn't any publicity other than the 2 songs, people hadn't liked the trailer all that much?

she drew people in partly (srk and Salman together the other big draw) and then srk carried the movie. I think her background scenes got cut because they weren't with srk, John really didn't have much that wasn't with srk, other than the minuscule wife scene and that too was srk reacting to it. I think some Paris scenes were cut too, probably they were planning a song there( a saiyara type song), when has YRF done a big movie with 2 songs?

The movie probably got too long and they had to choose what to keep and what not to keep. could you imagine this movie with yrf's favorites Anuskha, Katrina or Vaani in deepika's place , the horror of JTHJ yikes or even alia (unimaginable).

srk and deepika on screen are something else, even the mediocre happy new year, their scenes are so cute and funny, and manwa laage the best part.

but the unsung hero really is sidhart Anand, can't believe this guy made tara rum pum pum

I just had to log in on this damn site after ages to discuss this.

Two things :

1. Deepika has never looked this hot in a movie before.

2. The moment when Deepika came outta nowhere started chasing John( who was on bike) with her ice skating thingie was the most hilarious moment of the movie for me. Like please who thought of this as idea ?😭😭😭

I may have found the movie shitty but happy for my shah . King got his comeback ❤️

I thought, it had become clear (and I also wrote it somewhere) that there isn't a real romance except in the end credit song (Jhoome Jo Pathaan) - a bit. One can imagine that both have fallen in love but during the movie that was only hinted not clearly shown between Pathaan and Rubai.

love triangle...I didn't see one...

who had thought rubai would ditch both pathaan and jim after she got raktabeej??? atleast I did .. I guess then we would not have got the second half plot 😆
