I understand his intents here was to be funny, to make it comedic with the camera angle and flying with the rolling pin. But you cannot use domestic abuse as a joke. You can’t do that at any point, but you definitely can’t and shouldn’t when you are famous and have millions of social media followers.

It wasn't just him in the video. His sister was a full participant. He wasn't taking her by surprise with his supposed violence.

I completely understand that. My objection is to using something like domestic violence as a joke. The idea of grabbing a woman by the hair or throwing her out the window shouldn’t be displayed as comedy.

Which part of grabbing a woman’s ,albeit the sister,hair and throwing her out for not making food to one’s taste is comedy?

It comes from a place of misogyny and entitlement about the so called gender roles. Especially in a country like India.

The video was intended as comedy. But stans of stars who actually have been credibly accused of violence and have been on video slapping people are now clutching their pearls in horror.

Well I don’t live in India. Can I laugh. 😆 Truth be told I didn’t think it was funny. I thought it was lame. But I didn’t find anything objectionable

When Ranveer has slapped butts on video... when Ranbir has pushed his maid into a pool according to his own mom... when Jahnavi has slapped an innocent costar on video with the comment his cheek was asking for it... when Tiger has actually said he'd want his girl to stay home and massage his feet...

I have had so many different thoughts about this post and Sonam liking it. I know Sonam liking it gives it a lot of credibility. But I’m also curious as to how Kartik got away with allegedly hitting a star kid, that too the daughter of Boney Kapoor and niece of Anil Kapoor? How has there not been any backlash by the Kapoors and all their allies in the industry? I can understand Janhvi not wanting a humiliating episode to become public, but I still don’t understand how Kartik hasn’t been shunned more. KJo himself is seen talking and laughing with him in recent times. The other the day he was invited to Manish Malhotra’s birthday bash. The two people in the industry who seem to love and dote on janhvi a lot are friendly with her abusive ex? I’m always someone who thinks any allegation of abuse should be taken seriously immediately. But I’m also recognizing that something isn’t adding up here.

However, as someone who watched a lot of Dhadak interviews and found Janhvi actually very sweet, level headed, and even someone who seemed well read, I have definitely noticed a shift in her personality after her break up with Ishaan and what feels like during/after her time with Kartik. One on one nothing seems that big of a deal for an industry kid and a Bollywood actress. The Kardashian complex, the stupid idiotic comments, getting KA tattooed on her wrist, but put them all together and it seems like the girl has gone through something. Maybe she took the relationship a lot more seriously than he did and the break up was hard on her. Maybe it’s delayed trauma from losing her mother suddenly. Maybe it’s something completely different. Maybe she was faking it during Dhadak and this is who she really is. I don’t know 🤷🏽‍♀️. But there’s definitely been a change in her around Kartik time. I’m still bothered by her slapping Varun Fukrey on the face on camera and saying his face was asking for it, and basically getting away with it without so much as even an apology. And yes, I’m also grouping this with all her other bizarre behavior and changes, supposed changes?
