Will you participate in this contest?

Each of my Nano Drama entries begins with a citation of the critical edition (parvan, chapter, verse) to show that what I wrote follows the "it must be canon" rule. I expect that the citation will be removed from the entry before it is displayed for voting.

Everything other than the citation (setting, speaker, action, dialogue) is within 50 words.

I am not really sure if I would be able to participate. A lot is going on, if I end up writing something, I'll definitely send it.

I also have a query regarding 'canon'. Do you mean only canon pairing will be accepted and any scene can be designed around the pairing? Or do you mean both pairing and the scenes have to be retold as per canon?

Regarding canon, I mean only canon pairing is accepted, no subtle kind of romantic angle between non-canon pairs will be accepted as valid entry. Else you can create or recreate any conversations between any MB characters without distorting the overall original storyline. If you have any more queries, do let me know.

Yeah, you can give titles to your nano dramas and nano tales. Its optional. Titles won't be included in the word limit. Titles must not exceed 4 words.

Could you help me understand the Canon part properly. U said in one of the posts that only Canon pairs are accepted right?

So does that mean pairing which doesn't actually exist in Mahabharata?

So if say I wanted to write on Krishna-Rukmini or Arjuna-Subhadra that won't be allowed?

I actually wanted to recreate few scenes in Mahabharata which will be very different from how it is in the original epic.

( E.g Say if Kunti never disowned Karna or say had Kunti actually turned back and looked at Draupadi before asking her to be shared or had Shantanu never broken the promise to goddess Ganga etc etc )

So will that be acceptable ?

Since Nano Drama is a play, is it supposed to have only dialogues and minimal narration, like plays?

And Nano tale can have more exposition/description. Did I get it right?

Yes you can write about Krishna-Rukmini, Arjun-Subhadra, Arjun-Chitrangada, Abhimanyu-Uttara, Draupadi-any Pandavas, Krishna-Arjun, Krishna-Draupadi, Karna-Duryodhan, Karna-Kunti etc.

Yes you are free to recreate any scene from Mahabharat but as long as it doesn't affect the main storyline or alter the conclusion, its absolutely fine and will be considered as a valid entry.

What could happen in alternative timeline like if Kunti hadn't disowned Karna, is not a motive of this contest. Be it Kunti knowingly dividing Draupadi among her sons or Shantanu not breaking his promise to Ganga, is not desirable. You should stick to the original storyline, but you can interpret different situations, recreate or create new conversations between characters based on your own imaginations, only you should remember that it shouldn't change the main story at the end.
