You are already declared yeh phobic and woh phobic.

These are scary times we are leaving in. Say a word and you will be called names without understanding the context of the discussion. 😆

It feels so weird when you spent most of your adult life standing on the other side of the fence and you just realise how the tables have truly turned and you wonder if things were always this bad and you were just blind and deaf to it or not. The things I’m seeing today that’s being label as freedom, bravery and courageous are something out of fantasy. We are losing touch with reality completely.

Wait, what?! Kids are calling themselves cats these days, with parental approval? 😳 Or is this a joke/sarcasm that I am unable to understand 🤔

How I wish this was a joke but sadly I’m not joking or sarcastic. You can look them up on google but yes, there are parents who are forcing schools to treat their children as cats. Well, adults are doing it too and people are supportive of it so…

I don’t think it’s any different than parents starting hormonal drugs on children at young age instead of just loving and being there for their children and teaching them they should love and accept whoever they are when they are old enough to decide. I know someone will come at me for saying this but I wish kids wouldn’t be dragged in this political mess.

That might be true that children at such a young age might not know what is best for them. But having a friend who use to DJ for people at LGBT clubs and bars. The people I met told me that they got their sex changed during adulthood. But before they always felt they were imprisoned. They had been someone they were not.

For example, trying to fit in school and be good at sports when it was never their interest. They wanted to be doing makeup classes. They would get bullied because they were not like other boys around them. It is like your body was a mistake. And that can happen. Just like non-binary/hermaphrodite people get born. It can happen that someone gets born with a body of the wrong sex. Thus I do not think it is always a mental illness. But they should definitely speak to counselors and doctors. Because at a young age children do not always know what is right for them. It could be a phase they are going through. It could happen due to self-esteem issues.

But waiting until adulthood can also be causing huge problems in their childhood.

@atominis

The point of that writer incident was Gen Z likes to label things which are either 1) hitches in life or 2) issues which require a diff approach.

If a boy is attracted to another boy and decides he's a girl, is he trans or simply gay? Does he have the neuronal capacity yet at age 11 to decide? And if the parents push for permanently disabling hormones or surgery, isn't that the worst form of child abuse?

Or if a child wishes herself as someone else because of mental health problems or problematic situations? I've wished myself a boy at that age because I was always told not to do certain things on account of being a girl. Am super glad my parents never imagined taking me for testosterone shots.

@Grumpydwarf24, makeup classes would come under this category. Why can't a boy take makeup classes? Is it because he's trans or because society sets nonsense limits on what genders can do? It was society in my case. But what did I know at age 11?

Then there's the irresponsible talk about mental health in untreated trans individuals. Well, European nations are beginning to stop gender affirming surgery in children because of poor mental health outcomes. Why, if they're truly all trans? Shouldn't there be at least a small improvement?

What's happening today is there's some social cachet attached to being an oppressed minority in certain circles. Don't believe me? Look at the stats on number of trans children. Some increase is because it's easier to come out. But not all of it.

......

Gen Z has totally gone off the orbit on this issue and many others.

Like LazyBiing, I used to be considered liberal (not left). But if I don't condone children mutilating themselves, if I don't believe terrorists are misunderstood little lambikins who just need a hug, if I think sentient and sane adult humans are responsible for their own actions, I'm apparently no longer liberal.

For liberals who still have a couple of brain cells left: if reasonable people remain too afraid to be vocal about craziness, people will rally behind the unreasonable. We've seen it happen in India and the U.S. Please come to your senses and start speaking up.

I know this one very tricky and there’s no right or wrong answer to it and I know what these people (both kids and adults) go through. It’s not lost on me, I promise, but I don’t think the right answer to it is to start hormonal drugs on children. The first step is we educate ourselves and those around us. Parents should encourage their kids to be whoever they want to be without the involvement of doctors and drugs because if these kids change their minds tmrw it’s going to be very hard for them to detransition. If kid wants to transition when they around 16 + please by all means let them but doing that to 4-5-6 year kid is just not right to me. We sure can wait few years to get them fully on medications. Something else that bothers me is that we can’t tell who’s genuine and who’s not and the politics (both sides) using these issues to their advances. It makes me question what’s real and whatnots. Everything is blurred and there’s no clear vision. I have seen people wishing their parents hadn’t make them take these drugs and are now in the process of going back. I have heard about the struggles others go through feeling they in the wrong body so looking at both sides I don’t know but still wish kids were just that, kids.

It would say 18+ ! That is the age when doctors say a child has the capacity to vote and do other things. Because their brain has developed enough to know right or wrong! Thus at that age they would know what is best for them.

also they should be more of a specialty study for counselors who can identify whether it is really transgender issue or is it something else. I feel it is not studied enough. Many solutions start with education.
