This exactly.. its all abt what WE want to see ..how we want to see each women bec we see a piece of us in them....it holds true otherwise also..if Ayesha is happy being a supportive partner so be it...a woman's life holds value only when she works outside I dun agree.being a home maker is as difficult as working ..here Ayesha has a choice which many females don't..as many of them have to work for financial reasons.....he already suggested something good that he planned for both of them..I see the point..he must leave it to Ayesha..I'll also love to watch basit give Ayesha the freedom to choose..education..work..his business or anything ..that's the ideal scenario..however I dun expect idealism on TV...let them show a little bit of sanity around each other and I'll be happy ...soha..Zoya.. qudsia..sadia..fahad..I guess work is at the bottom of the list of issues in their life đ.
As long as Ayesha is happy is important. And her face when they were discussing her working already shows that this is not the case. And Basit trying to chart out her life for her is patriarchal.
Didn't quite get what you said about what We want to see....of course, this is a drama where we want to see a lot of things. It is a made up story. And wanting to see the Ayesha we saw in the first scene of this drama regain that dream she had lost in life's struggles, might be part of that wish of the audience.
I don't think there is any problem if Ayesha wants to be a homemaker or a student or a business owner. What was being discussed was Basit's attempt to control that decision. And because unlike Basit we as the audience have a greater insight into Ayesha's backstory, who she was before he entered her life, it is obvious we would know how this attempt on his part might impact Ayesha. It is not that she is happy with what he said about her not working but because he also told her he loved her, she decided not to push it. Similarly Basit wasn't happy about what she said about forgiving his mother. But because he didn't want to bring in any further conflict, he deliberately did not go into it. This was done very naturally in the show. I think what this show does is bring out how men and women interact in a patriarchal society. Neither is a villain here. But there are certain realisations that they are yet to come to.
