Agree to all that you said here. Basit knows that Ayesha is a smart educated woman. He had high regards for her abilities when she was working for him. But he still doesn't understand a woman may also want to feel accomplished, want to have a life beyond home. It is completely fine if Ayesha wants the same, but that should be her decision.

Not sure if they will still show something more on this, but I hope they do

Def watching the wrong show from a wrong country to be expecting this .

Ayesha never wanted to work bec she wanted to work. She wanted to support her family as she believed she was the only bread winner ..basit only knew he gave 75 lakhs to her mom to cover up for all their expenses and promised to support them in future . If Ayesha had known may be her decision would be different ..also, working with her husband in their company is better than doing a secretary job , if you remember she couldn't complete her education and couldn't get a better job than that . she clearly said "woh meri majboori thi" , dunno how that translates into her wish .

I am definitely not saying that Ayesha should work as a secretary, but she can work for their company formally or informally. Like you mentioned earlier, I just hope that she gets involved in their business just like Soha helps with her fathers business.

Understand that nothing of this sort may happen in the show given that we may have only a few episodes left...

No my only point was that we villainize basit for not letting her do the job , there was a detailed scene where he told her the reasons , it wasn't bec he sees her down, wants to be a housewife or something or just bec she is a woman and he can provide for her . It was bec of her lack of education , not being able to complete her masters , she wouldn't get a job above secretary level and he didn't see the point..she was being used by her mom, basit cud also see that ..he gave bano the job and took good care of that issue ....Now when he tells her that he has plans for them , I dun see it as patriarchy or him asserting his wish on her..she was happy hearing it wasn't she ?

I'd love to see ayesha completing her education and helping him in business or work elsewhere ..why not . It will be a good message

Ayesha.is right in so many things and I am glad that the writer pointed it out through Zoya, that bec of qudsias upbringing Ayesha suffers inferiority complex ...my heart went out to her when she said she doesn't have a rich father so her options are limited...to get over this complex if she wants to work independently why not..but I feel the same confidence basit can also give her .

Ayesha did start working because she was forced by her family's financial circumstances. Before that we see her as a successful student, topper in her year, a candidate for scholarship. When she started working, while it was hard at first, we see how quickly she adapts and becomes good at her job. She has a lot of potential, that is clear to see. To turn that girl into simply the supportive partner who is to be happy at her husband's success and celebrate in his celebrations is to say goodbye to the dreams that had made Ayesha what she is. Wouldn't she want her husband to also get the chance to celebrate her successes as his own? Basit is not being a villain here but he hopefully will realise that Ayesha too might have had dreams before she became his wife and work towards making them come true.
The issues between them are still not resolved completely. Ayesha needs to become confident and since she has always banked her sense of self through her studies and later her ability to work, it cannot be possible to just forget an entire aspect of herself. Similarly, Basit's feelings about his mother too are yet to be resolved. Both these things are there in episode 26. What is important is that because they have now realised that they are loved, they are willing to sideline these issues. But they will come out sooner or later. Hopefully, both will emerge stronger.

I would like to point out there are plenty of Pakistani shows which have a very progressive approach to questions of gender. Laapata is a show that aired last year only. Before this there are also plenty of shows like Kankar, Ghisi piti mohabbat, Meri Jaan being some of my all time favourites.

Indian...but haven't been keeping up to date with bollywood in the last few years...which is why probably didn't know of this film😆 More into Malayalam cinema.
