8th Oct Anandji Special

A full duet episode.

Shagun & Rupam :- Laila o laila. Average rendition . Esp Rupam - I am still not warming upto her at all.

Vineet Sonakshi :- Bekhudi Mein sanam. Sonakshi did well. Vineet of course continues to have the pull. Perfect notes & feel 👍👌. The ease with which he delivers is not surprising & yes, it is unfair to pit him against any of the current lot.

Chirag & Kavya :- Chandan ka Badan & Kya khoob lagti ho. Chirag was awesome in both esp the first one. Kavya again was v mediocre. The difference between them is so striking - Chirag stands out & you just focus on him, forgetting Kavya. MBD given.

Shivam & Deboshmita :- Aur Is Dil Mein . The song of course brings to my mind PD’s Covid rendition with just his guitar. So yeah, trying to be objective here. Shivam gave a decent recital & Debo as usual was very good.

Rishi & Bidipta :- Tumko mere Dil ne & Neele neele ambar. Bidipta shows improvement, Rishi scored high in both.

Pritam & Senjuthi:- O mere raja & O sathi re.. 2 songs with different moods & Senjuthi was awesome, in flitting from one to another & capturing the feel. 👍Pritam was just okayish. Another pair, where the difference was so striking.

Sanchari & Anushka :- Both Don numbers ; a very enjoyable performance. Sanchari, for a change did well. I feared that it would be a duet with anushka’s RD & Sanchari’s yodelling - but thankfully it wasn’t.

Wadala & Vineet :- Akele ho chale aao. I know Wadala had to be paired with someone which would be a repeat, but it shouldn’t have been vineet. A Rafi classic, right up his zone & Vineet aced it. Unfair to wadala, who looked distinctly ill at ease being out of his genre. At least they could’ve given more lines to wadala, or he should’ve been put with Pritam.

Asides….

Chupke se chupke se….

* So vineet chupke se records Chirag’s failure to woo Kavya & somebody chupke se records Vineet recording chupke se…. So how chupke se is that?? 🤔🤔… Kuch Bhi..😳

* Kavya, though a mediocre singer will be safe for weeks…Chirag Kavya forced romance has to be forced on us. 😳. The promo says they are going full throttle tomorrow.

* Is it goodbye to Randomness , TCT?? All got a chance to perform. 👍 Good going. Now, see that all get equal numbers to perform too. Oh well, one step at a time. 😁

Overall an enjoyable episode with the full-fledged band characteristic of the golden era 👍

* And finallly…..I vowed not to mention about Tumko mere Dil ne from the last season🤫🤐… but how can I not? 🤔…yaar,these two have spoiled me for life. Need to watch that clip now before calling it a day… or night....😁.. well almost..

. Shagun and Rupam-I liked Rupam's singing but found Shagun's singing very out of place and shouty/shrieky. Overall not a good duet performance. Shagun should consider himself very lucky to be in the top 15.

. Vineet and Sonakshi-Vineet's mature, strong singing was a stark contrast to Sonakshi's sharp singing. I like Sonakshi's voice but I feel like her voice still needs a lot more maturation before she could do successful playback singing. Vineet's clear experience was on display as he absolutely slayed both songs. Overall an average duet.

. Chirag and Kavya-As nauseating as I find the love story the show is writing for them, their duet was outstanding. Chirag has a sukoon to his voice that makes his singing worth listening to. Kavya also did a great job. Definitely much better than their solo performances last week.

. Shivam and Deboshmita-Man that was really good. Goosebumps singing. Shivam is shaping out to be a dark horse in Indian Idol this year. Deboshmita proves yet again why she is the best female singer this season hands down. Loved the performance.

. Rishi and Bidipita-Rishi sang very well and Bidipta complemented his singing very well. Solid duet!

. Pritam and Senjuti-For me this was the best performance of the day easily. They complemented each other very well and this yet again proves that Pritam is hands down the most underrated singer this season. I predict both these contestants to go very far this year.

. Sanchari and Anushka-Oh boy. There was no sexiness in "Yeh Mera Dil" and "Don" sounded karaoke. I had high expectations for Anushka this season considering her excellent track record in Lil Champs but her singing has been disappointing. I am glad Sanchari kept the screaming to a minimum.

. Navdeep and Vineet-It felt like it was only Vineet singing haha. This was clearly not Navdeep's genre of singing which is fine. Vineet was outstanding as usual. Navdeep in parts was good. Performance had a very abrupt ending. I feel the marking will go more against Navdeep but it he probably won't be eliminated

If somebody does get eliminated next week, Shagun should pack his bags. His singing, while decent, isn't enough to merit a top 15 spot.

For me the top pick will be

Shivam & Debosmita. Debosmita has a very clear voice. Sounds really nice.

Vineet & Sonakshi is a close second. Vineet is a seasoned singer, Sonakshi a good try.

Others nothing much to write about. Mostly average.

I will mention a few duets that were mentionable. Rest are just a pass for me!

Rishi-Bidipta : Good and for me Bidipta was better than Rishi in the duets today. The songs didn’t suit Rishi’s voice, I felt. Hope he doesn’t become the overrated singer .
I was surprised that he found out about his adoption now in the middle of II. Why would the adoptive parents tell him this truth at such a juncture? It could shake up any person mentally and he needs to be mentally at ease to do well throughout the competition. I mean why now? We will

find out more tomorrow!

Sanchari -Anushka: I liked that they didn’t try to over do it. Sanchari sounded good.

Chirag-Kavya: chirag way better than Kavya today.
Can they please stop the love drama!

Vineet-Wadali: my only question is why pair these two??! There are 8 girls and 7 boys. Instead of having 2 girls perform together, they could have just had one boy sing twice to pair with the 8th girl.
Vineet completely and very happily overshadowed the duet. I could barely hear Wadali. He should have paired with one of the other girls (not Anushka or Sanchari).

and one more- Senjuti was good!

There wasn’t any pairing that stood out today! I hope in the future they mix and match!

last year, per me 😊 Aru and Nachiket performance in the early rounds is still one of the best. And I hoped for a Aru-Nihal duet which never happened 🥲

The difference is so vast, it seems they were like professionals. Wow, Arunita, Pawandeep really spoiled us!!

I couldn't watch yesterday and today, as I was tied up with something else. Plus today there was a clear live stream of PD's concert by Choklate Pi (yesterday was bad quality stream of the concert of PD and Arunita) - so I spent some time with that also.

But reading the reviews above it seems I haven't missed much.

After this duet last year, I went looking for the original. Shailendra Singh and Kanchan. I was surprised at how pedestrian the original was, and how much better these two sound in this duet. It is one of my favourites along with the first duet Pehla Nasha and Kya Yahi Pyaar Hai, the 4 songs in the Govinda episode, and the Dhadak song.

I specially like this one, the uncut version. (I wanted to post this, but hurriedly posted the other version). The ending is mind blowing. Absolutely out of this world.

As Himeshji said this was their best duet, I agree totally.
