by the way, I watched Indian Idol auditions tonight.... after a long time. It was interesting to see they were mostly singing old songs. In fact in the last two years that I've heard people sing BW songs, there must have been at most 3 or 4 songs that were of recent vintage. In this forum though, it seems to be the other way around- more new songs, less old.

was wondering if someone would have a list of both old and new songs to try? I don't have the bandwidth to listen to countless random songs and find stuff on my own. The music threads are also a time waste imo because people post any and every song. I need maybe 20 to 40 songs to get started.

I caught some of the auditions last night, the guy who sang Chaudavin Ka Chand, what a voice, brilliant rendition. I don't know if you remember this guy from SRGMP from back in the day, Vineet, he was quite a popular contestant, I was surprised to see him auditioning.

i think your experience points to why most people I know sing those older songs in live sessions. Irony is when I hear some the new songs by contestants and others here that I wonder why more people don't try them. They sound very nice too.

as for Anu Malik, I know the songs from baazigar, but am not very familiar with his other stuff. Might have to look them up thanks to Heisen.😆
