That said, given it's an anonymous forum, I try my best to not form strong emotional attachments ... but some things are just inevitable when you frequent the place so often I guess. I've def. gotten to a point of that realization that people come and go at their own convenience depending on their personal lives, and you will perhaps never meet or see people you feel "connected" to here, and tried to back off numerous times ... just to maintain the much required level of detachment. It's all just a part of the deal here and I try to be mindful of that.

by the way, I watched Indian Idol auditions tonight.... after a long time. It was interesting to see they were mostly singing old songs. In fact in the last two years that I've heard people sing BW songs, there must have been at most 3 or 4 songs that were of recent vintage. In this forum though, it seems to be the other way around- more new songs, less old.

was wondering if someone would have a list of both old and new songs to try? I don't have the bandwidth to listen to countless random songs and find stuff on my own. The music threads are also a time waste imo because people post any and every song. I need maybe 20 to 40 songs to get started.

You already know I'm of little to no help when it comes to old hindi songs. and even among the new ones, I'm a noob cuz india-forums has been my major source of hindi music the past two years. My sister noticed me listening to hindi songs a lot more often lately, and not even the new ones but stuff from all the way back to Kishore Kumar and Rafi days, and was asking me what the deal is. I had no answer. 🤣 Told her I just followed YouTube recommendations, one thing led to another and I'm now a fan of old Hindi songs. 😆

I've been looking up and listening to them more after you started sharing your karaoke sessions, and thanks to Heisen too, for that along with those 90's music by Anu Malik. 😆 Turns out they're much more authentic, soothing and melodious than most of the songs of today. If I had to give you a list, it would be the ones you're already familiar with... and have most likely already tried singing too.

and thanks for sharing your singing. I'm assuming it's one of the Rabindra sangeet songs you were talking about in the previous pages. I had to look it up and apparently they're songs written and composed by Rabindranath Tagore. I had no idea -- learning sth new every day for sure! I didn't get the words but it had a unique energy, your voice is lovely and you're one fine singer too! ❤️
