Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami, Krishnasthami, or Gokulashtami, falls on Thursday 18th of August this year. The birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated all around India and abroad and the devotees are fondly called «Krishna Bhakts».

According to the Hinduism faith, Lord Krishna is the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu and he was born as the eighth son of Vasudeva and Devaki on the eighth day, under Rohini nakshatra. He was born in Mathura in Dwaparyuga.

Lord Krishna was naughty and mischievous in his tender years. Called a «Makhan Chor», he used to steal white butter, curd, and milk with his friends. Neighbors used to complain to the lord’s mother.

Devotees remember his early years by organising Dahi Handi and making a human pyramid to break the earthen pot kept at height.

Nevertheless, this small detail of his life does not reduce his power to fight against injustice.

He was born on this day to destroy Mathura’s demon King, Kansa. He was the cousin brother of Krishna’s virtuous mother Devaki. Kansa was against the birth of Lord Krishna, as it would spoil the prophecy and lead to his downfall. Lord Krishna was beyond all the conspirations and fought with courage against the devil king.

Devotees find in Lord Krishna the supremacy, the goodness, the courage, the strength, the teacher, the friend, and the power to win over the evil.

Lord Krishna is worshipped the whole day in the form of Laddoo Gopal Ji.

Devotees fast the whole day in his remembrance.

They also decorate temples with flowers and lights and offer many types of bhog prasad and perform puja. At home, they prepare delicious sweets and dishes.

It is strongly believed that Lord Krishna comes on this auspicious day, at midnight, to eat all the goodies. The temples of Mathura and Vrindavan take another dimension of fairytale lands as the two places are believed to have welcomed Lord Krishna’s birth and early years of his life.

Crazy Creatives wish you a safe and happy Janmashtami. May the good always win over the bad.

May we all remember what Lord Krishna taught mankind in the Bhagavad Gita and may we always follow the path of dharma and keep on doing good karma. 🙏

May Lord Krishna show you the way in your life, as he showed the way to Arjuna in the battle of Mahabharata. Have a blessed Krishna Janmashtami! ❤️
