Major reason is people s taste have changed and they won't stand for mediocre films anymore. Additionally they have become more cautious in spending money.

Even though we have these factors which is to be considered, good films will always work and the content has to be improved.

I truly genuinely seriously believe that Hindi films have been under-estimating the power of great music, off late. Even amazingly made movies like Taare Zameen Par or RDB have had heart wrenching music to support the writing. I barely know anyone who doesn't tear up a little when they hear Tu dhoop hai, jham se bikhar, Tu hai nadi, o bekhabar, beh chal kahi, ud chal kahi.. plays during the climax.

When was the last time we heard a powerful album which swept us off our feet. Agree or not, we Indian audience are used to being fed with appropriate bg score and songs during important scenes and that is half the work done, quite literally. Good music and score is stimulating and just elevates the movie experience. Remember when we used to watch a movie, come back home and search for certain songs/bgm and listen to them on loop. They let you experience/enjoy the movie even when you are done watching it. I don't understand why it has taken a back seat, heck even the niche multiplex movies used to have great music.

I think weak story and bad direction is the reason. Recently, any hindi movies I have seen have felt like they are going nowhere or just random scenes have been shot. A movie like BB2 should have been funnier, Ek Villain 2 should have had a better storyline. I liked Jugg Jugg Jeeyo but that was anyway not a spectacle movie to make many hundreds of crores. I am not even going to watch LSC, first, because it is 3 hours long and I will not waste that much time after having watched that weird trailer. Second, it is a remake and having watched the original, I know it will be difficult to match it and I don't see it having been matched from the trailer. It is almost caricaturish, the way Aamir is acting. Either they should have left FG alone or they should have made a sincere attempt. I feel like it is almost offensive that he thought his character should be a Sikh, in some indirect way of saying that Sikhs are innocent and kind-hearted and maybe a bit slow. Like those SMS jokes on Sikhs. I think it's weird they went with such a regional touch to the movie which did not even require it like Dangal did. And then couldn't even do the accent properly. He is talking like a child would, if they had to copy the Punjabi accent and language. Why make a joke and then expect everyone to take it seriously? If you can't put in that effort then why complicate the premise in the first place? There is really no movie that is coming up that I feel like watching from Bollywood.

Lack of creativity... During pandemic people got to see alot of varity and creative OTT material, so they donot care about actors, how big or small they are now. Content is the King.

No fresh talent in BW, new talent (nepo or outsider), none are impressive or has strong screen presence ... Everything is just PR moulds which are looking fake ..

I think they are many reasons. I will name a few:

1) COVID - Isolation, lockdown and social distancing made people watch movies in OTT. It also affected people financially so i feel people don't want to spend their money for bad movies

2) The audience have become demanding. Like JK is Sri Devi daughter. She was a big star long back. The youth don't care about sri devi or her daughter...

What i am trying to say is the current generation actors have not gotten a place in the hearts of the audience Like DP, Alia or kareena, Ranbir etc..

3) Loose talks by the actors! The arrogance where they are putting down audience or mocking then!

4) They are finding alternatives now, be it

allu arjun pushpa, KGF Yash, RRR - NTR, RC Or Vijay devarkonda.. They have many more choices. These actors are more humble, sorted and audience are loving them.

5) Controversies like SSR death, Aryan Khan Drug issue etc have put the industry in a bad light! All this boycott stuff is affecting too...

6) Remakes - Many people are already watching the originals and dont want to spend the money on remakes

7) Budget - Spending lavishly even when it is not needed! The amount spent is more than the amount recovered!

6) If the movie is good and it has good story / content, it is succeeding irrespective of all the above points which is quite rare!

Lack of good scripts. 70 percent of the Bollywood movies coming out now are remakes or weak scripts or bad acting. Couple this with the atrocious vain behaviour of these celebrities along with unfair nepotism and their dumb political statements, Bollywood keeps losing points within the audience.

There is not a single factor. It is accumulation of many factors.

(A) Boring but expensive movies, which are also not original. Indian audience in pandemic showed they are enjoying mostly Desi culture or Indian culture, rather than lapping the Americanised Kardashian culture that BW patronises. And also the expensive part. You need to cut your budget, make big actors take lower fees and profit sharing rather than take huge fees upfront and cripple the budget of the movie(looking at your Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and so on).

(B) Bollywood needs new charismatic stars. Old stars no longer have the same charm as above. All of thier fan base have become old and don't have money to waste. The new generation's do not follow bollywood star but social media influencers, who are the biggest star of today's generation Z.

(C) Sushant's death and it's negative impact on Bollywood's image, exposing the nepotism and especially the lobbying culture. People have genuinely started hating BW, and BW instead of admitting it's lobbying culture, became defensive which made people angry even more.

(D) South Indian movies especially Telugu and Tamil movies popularity and BW being stupid enough to remake them, when they are freely available on television and online, especially YouTube These movies which is mostly representing the Indian desi culture make people more related to them. And I am not talking about big budget blockbusters, but small or mid budget South Indian movies which are available for free. If you remake them, you are lookin at loss.

(E) Lack of good music. Just listen to Ek Villain One music and sequal music. If a movie doesn't have good music, and filled with remake crap, it will suffer. You cannot have SKTKS remake music work everytime. People need original music.

(F) Too much content available for free or for smaller amount online, people have thier money for entertainment already segregated. Earlier most of the people's only means of entertainment was cinema or cable/dish television at home. But with pandemic, the dependence it created for majority of Indian audience to look at OTT platforms or YouTube. Even people who never knew to operate mobile phones, the elderly or mid 40s and mid 50s, or people with lower income, have now become dependent on mobile phone entertainment. Now more people prefer to watch 200-300 short videos with variety of content in 3 hrs in the comfort of their personal space than a full ass movie in theater.

So unless a movie is a big event, it is going to suffer. Ofcourse it will all change, but if you wait for the change to happen on its own, BW is fool. They need to step up thier game.
