Chapter 1 -

The most simplistic yet nuanced way of explaining their story, isn't it?!

Ladte-jhagadte pale bade, nafrat mein shaadi ho gayi, alag ho gaye, pyaar ho gaya, phir ek ho gaye.

But it was so much fun to read it as the tourist, that at some point, you feel you are the tourist and can't wait for more. 😆

Really enjoyed it. ❤️

Chapter 2 -

The tree has indeed seen Shiva across his phases. But the fact that he took Raavi there when he took no one else... Sigh!

And I loved how you wove the aam and mirchi with the tree. The two little ones eating aam, and one carrying a mirchi packet for the other.

Loved it! Looking forward to the next part. ❤️

2. Tales told by a tree: Part 2

The tourist was all ears, couldn't wait to know what happened next. As if sensing her impatience, the voice continued again,

“I met her three more times, at different phases of her life. The first time I saw her, was after their divorce, she was a grown woman fighting for love. I almost thought she wouldn't remember, but then she came to me, looked up at the leaves, so many emotions floating in her eyes, determination, defeat, hope, love, longing. She was wearing a blue suit that was flowing with the wind, she looked like her name then, a river, blue and pure flowing through space. Her eyes had searched for something among the leaves and then she sighed in defeat.

She had gently touched the trunk of the tree and pressed her forehead to it, exactly the way he had done in the past. And I knew in that moment she remembered it too, the memories of another life, and him. “Abhi yaha ek bhi aam nahi hai” she whispered, “hota bhi to kya hi ho jaata, aam laakar dene waala bandar… mera bandar to hai hi nahi mere saath”

Backing away, ready to leave she looked at the tree one last time, “Kaash naye mausam ke saath jaise aam wapas aate hai waise hi wo bhi…” and with that she walked away leaving that incomplete thought, and her hopes safe with me. Taking away memories of that other life and the person she lost twice, him.

Just like the tree, her determination bore its fruits. Seasons changed, cold hard winters paved way for sunshine and summer, hate paved way for love,

The second time I saw her was a few years later, the day I realised something bittersweet.

She had come to this place to search for him, he was upset about something and wanted to be left alone. I saw her search for him all over the place. Worry written all over her face, and suddenly all of it vanished, relief washed over her, she had seen him coming. She ran into his arms, they stayed there for some time. And then I saw her hold his hand and take him back home. I knew that was the last I would see of him and I quickly realised why. My old friend did not need me anymore. The vulnerable little boy had finally found a home, the one he’d share his sorrows with, his humdard.

The last time I saw her though, was many, many seasons later, I almost didn’t recognize her, time had passed her by, she had lived a long long life. Life had run its course, She’d walked here alone this time, slowly, she looked so much older but her eyes, they were just the same.

Her hand gently touched the tree as she had done years ago. She smiled a serene smile, I knew then, she was remembering him. If anyone else were to see the scene, they’d see an old woman standing by a tree alone. But I knew better and I think she knew it too, she wasn’t alone. Suddenly she let out a hearty laugh, she was looking at the ground. There lay a small packet of laal mirch. She looked at the sky, smiled softly, whispered “mera bandar” and walked away.

And that day my story with them ended. She came to me one last time, for she needed someone to share her sorrow, for he was gone, her humdard…”

The tourist woke up with a start, looked around confused and a little disoriented, strained her ears to try and hear to voice again, she looked up and all she heard was the soft whispers of the leaves rustling.

The end.

There are parts of Shiva-Raavi's story, yet to be told, the things I know in my head but haven't been able to pen down.

But for now that's it for this story of the series, hope you liked it ❤️

Bye bye, until inspiration strikes again 😆
