Because NY is the only place in all of US where the authentic taste isn't compromised by about a thousand times. 😭 and London. From the ones I've been anyway. I haven't been to Dubai but I'm sure the food scene is great there too. I'm in San Francisco and let me repeat that the food sucks here. There's no shortage of cuisine options but desi food sucks no matter where you eat here. I've never had a "wow" moment ANYWHERE in all the years I've lived here.

So yeah, I wanna go to NY again soon just for the food. Last time I tried out a highly recommended momo place in Jackson Heights in NY, it was on point with how desi food actually tastes back in India/Indian subcontinent. How do I know that? My last trip to my home country was in 2017 and when I returned back to the US, I couldn't believe how lame and dull everything tasted for weeks afterwards. On top of restaurants trying to please American palate, veggies, fruits, etc. right down to the spices all taste different here too, and lack that "zing" factor for lack of a better word. So even if you whip something up at home with all the right ingredients, it won't turn out as flavorsome as the same thing would back home.

What kills me is the lack of variety where I live though. No matter where you go, the appetizers section will have samosas, chaat, or some variation of that. And the entrees will almost always have Tikka masala, butter chicken, mix veggie curry and the good old Tandoori that never gets old. Knowing that there are about a thousand other food items out there (this thread is a fine example of that 😭) eating naan or roti with one of the flavorless five stopped exciting me years back.

When in NYC next time don't visit Sona😆 they have fusion food plus Its expensive.. gogappe ka rate dekh kr havaiya udd gyi..

I have been to Nando's as well and find it nothing exceptional 🤷🏻‍♂️

U r talking about Bhakri pizza..the one with crisp base..it's yumm. Ahmedabad food is 😋

But I love South Indian food too..the most filling and sort of healthier. It's become my staple food now

You will get the authentic dal-baati-churma only in Rajasthan 😆 or may be at someone's home who has been born & brought up in Rajasthan. Other states' restaurants though claim they have the original taste but it is actually and totally tasteless 😆 atleast that's my personal experience.

You’re vegetarian though. Of course you won’t find the food exceptional. Nandos is all about the chicken! 😡
