I think the book had been written without even looking at the careers of the respective stars. The best way of selection would be to take into account those stars who have been able to reach the top and rule the industry.
Among male stars, Rajendra Kumar should be included. Rajendra Kumar - Sunil Dutt - Shammi Kapoor were the trio of the 1960's. Among them, Rajendra Kumar was the top star. Post Dilip Kumar - Raj Kapoor - Dev Anand period and pre - Rajesh Khanna saga, it was Rajendra Kumar ' The Jubilee Kumar ' who was the biggest, top most and most popular Superstar.
Also, this forum seems to have very less to no idea about Suraiya. I would suggest you do some research about her. Suraiya was rightly included and deserves to be included because in the post - independence era, she was the ' STAR' , above all her contemporaries, be it male or female. She was a rage and had huge crazy fan following.
But I am happy that stars from the pre - independence era have been taken into account. Nowadays, youngsters have no idea about them, but still try to judge their stardom during their prime days. But if that era had been considered, Noor Jehan, who was the top female star as well the top female singer in the 1940's pre - partition, should have been taken into account. She was a singing sensation and a craze. One thing I didn't like about her that she left for pakistan after partition leaving Bombay where she got fame.
