In India all communities has gone through atrocities Sikh, Muslims and KP.

Earlier, the atrocities were committed by rulers or people with power. Now, it’s people killing each other.

In Guru Nanak Sahib’s poetries which have also documented the atrocities and pain when Babur attacked, the depiction doesn’t show killing a Hindu or Muslim but both regardless of religion.

While, in today’s world atrocities against specific religious communities do happen, I feel that people today have become more bigoted against regular people of different faiths.

Religion is an excuse, intolerance is the reason. It’s responsible for most soul breaking of the world. It makes people and children cruel to each other. Its responsible for wars, porgroms, crucifications, lynchings.

I find it strange that people don’t hate British as much. They have caused much more damage over 200 years - from stealing India’s wealth, to partitioning India, the wars that we have had to fight, to using Indians as canon fodder during world war, massacres, to the devastating consequences of the divide and rule policy.

In the Indian Sub-Continent. Yes! Not just KPs but Hindus in general have been the biggest victims amongst the others. From Pakistan toh they have been almost erased and whoever is remaining have to live like second class citizens. That’s why religion should be limited to being a private and personal matter and should have no bearing towards anything else.

I want to watch this movie, and I’m going to eventually but I hate the fact that it’s been been made by Vivek Agnihotri.

I want to watch it made by someone else really. ☹️🥺

I have shikhara on my watchlist too.

Though I do believe that socio economic status and power are always big reasons for unrest and riots among many communities. That’s how divide and rule was actually out in practice by colonialists. It always worked.

My issue isn't that Agnihotri is an asshole, my issue is he is a mediocre director. BW is filled with great directors who are assholes. I kinda seperate art from person. One of my favourite director is Anurag Kashyap (possibly the most favourite), but his and my political views are far off. He threads in the "Muslims are Blacks of India" type of politics, while I do not believe that at all.

As for the reason why these riots happen, in my personal opinion is basic human hatred and fear for anything that is different from us.

I personally believe that majority of the people do have hatred for communities other than theirs and when they see majority of the people in their surroundings favoring their point of view their real vile and bigot personality comes out. And it isn't about just Hindus vs Muslims, it is about almost every community vs another community. I mean you just need to go to Mizoram and ask them about Assamese people, you will find several hating on them. Or go to Nepal to ask about Biharis or anything. Go anywhere you will see people having bigotry and communalism. So I don't believe that politics is successful in making people bigots, IMO people who are bigot just get validation because of these kinds of politics, which is mix of progressive thoughts and regressive core. Because progressive thoughts makes sure that central people do not oppose and regression core or elements satisfies the bigotry of general public.

The biggest take away from TKP for me is that,

KPs didn’t become terrorists. They didn’t take up arms and become violent even after facing genocide and an exodus.

This is the lesson that the likes of Barkha and Return to hades need to learn. They humanize terrorists and try to rationalize terrorism by bringing in “factors”. Well there are no factors. If you don’t want to become terrorists, you don’t. Simple! And KPs set that example brilliantly. The community fled their homes, faced terrible things and yet worked hard to settle and better their living wherever they went. That shows strength and resilience. I applaud them.

The likes of "Barkha" were justifying carnage and mass exodus on the pretext of Hindu "minority" occupying plum positions in government, being influential in different strata of society hence leaving no opportunity and voice for "poor" majority who were hence forced to take up arms and wage terrorism!!!

Can you imagine??

And even if what was said was the truth, was murdering them or forcing them to flee the solutions? Wasn't it on the then reigning disposition and ones in power to readjust and restructure the public service(s) and other positions of influence by providing reservations and other similar benefits to the rebelling parties?

Aren't there quotas and reservations all over to address similar issues?

How is then that the "factors" (even if there were any) be justified on God's name?
