i think i watched two or three just for a better understanding of dynamics since i've been writing about the show but, whoof. i hope that the success of aru leads to more balanced "angry rude handsome MLs" in future shows!

I don't remember the particular scene but I 100% agree with this sentiment. Yes, she's young, so indulge her, buy she's an adult, and should be treated as such.

I was personally sold on the ship at the chopsticks scene, because I so agreed with Aryan's logic there. Yes, be yourself, be authentic, but don't let "hum toh aise hi hain" prevent you from growing and learning.

I so hate it when people refuse to grow under the pretense of refusing to change.

(I don't wanna get this thread in trouble by talking about dynamics that creep me out, but oh lord, the sheer abundance of them 🙃)

Remember when Narmada asks Aru to drive Imlie to the office from the temple? And she mimicks him en route to the Parking lot? They play jhalli patakha as bgm. Just before she's kicked out of the hostel.

What I like about Aryan is that he doesn't use his past trauma as an excuse to just be an unbearable jerk to the whole damn world. Refreshing against the trend of straight up abusive men being justified by "20 years ago one bad thing happened." I do hope this trend catches on- you can write tortured characters who don't torture others simply for existing!

But I guess it also largely depends on Aryan staying the way he is right now. I mean, he's almost 100 episodes old, how long will he resist the destiny of all 4L leading men?

Totally true and fair! Mangst is the most frustrating thing about TV across languages. Hollywood LOVES manpain and the ML's soap operas or not are just, so cursed. I guess we'll find out soon enough re: wedding shenanigans. (also sent you a twitter dm!)
