The broken ribs are more painful in his present here and now but the inability to respond to Imlie's hands all over him will hurt him in the future when he recollects or remembers it. However in that future time he will probably be in a position to get her to do a do-over or do something even more pleasurable so maybe he won't mind so much..😉

TBH, I was anticipating that, and was pleasantly surprised by where if went.

100% agreed. I think that's set Aryan apart in so many ways. He has always been unafraid to call her out on her idiotic ideas, yet has been the only one to offer support and shelter when she's needed it.

She gets a chance to develop and grow with him. And he learns to loosen up a bit with her around.

I read a bit of yours and Blue's discussions and I could NOT agree more about the dynamics between these two. It could so easily have been one sided and then the relationship becomes chaotic and uncomfortable to watch.

Despite their ages, status, power, you get the feeling that Imlie and Aryan truly can be 50-50 partners because they CHOOSE it.

Ugh, my heart. It can't even. ❤️ I keep having to remind myself that they are fictional.

I love that he has legit ceded all power to Imlie in their dynamic.

Because here's the thing- they aren't equals in life. He's significantly older. Far more experienced. Exorbitantly rich. Influential. Powerful. Hell, he's even both her boss and her landlord.

Them together, would make for an EXTREMELY unbalanced power dynamic, but that's cut away extremely well by the fact that while he holds all these upper hands, he still affords her the respect of an equal. He listens to and gives a fair try to her madcap plans and ideas instead of rubbishing them. He lets her take the lead on their personal dynamic.

That brings them on a level playing field, and prevents the relationship getting creepy.

Same with the mentoring as you pointed out- he has NO SHAME admitting to her and others that she inspires him. Again, it balances their otherwise easily disbalanced division of power.

YES TO ALL OF THIS!!! And the writers are clearly aware of this because they wouldn't have given us the "I'm 27 and 7 months" thing otherwise. Which makes me so mad other shows don't do a better job. You can do enemies/cranky to marrieds to marrieds who actually love one another without also having to foist the worst type of power differentials on them, sheesh.

prayer circle for more imlie finishes school after wedding btw hahaha

yes! and before the wedding was EVER in the cards (like obviously we knew it would come eventually) they had been giving us the partnership discussion, and even the subversion of the hero/villain/heroine discussion

Furthermore, absolutely love the fact that Aryan never took up the role of being her teacher. That's a power differential that is built-in to that equation. You can contractually negate the power relations between a boss and an employee, but a teacher always has mental, emotional, and social power over you

He does 'teach' her skills/mentors her where he knows that he's more experienced. Reversely, he allows her to 'teach' him things where she can take the lead. Love a non-toxic masculine man

Awww, mera bechara Aru, wifey ke CPR se, bechare ko chest tube na mil jaaye....smiley28smiley28 Maybe this is better? Someone (Pooja) told me these were new life skills to learn. How to convert snarky to sweet smiley24

I appreciate how Arylie are trying to teach you and me both new life skills. I will be even more appreciative on my part if they succeed in doing so so I am just gonna wish them good luck in this endeavour and try to relay how much I really appreciate them.🤔

Oh abso-fuccking-lutely! It's wonderful how they have managed to deal with the boss-employee trope so sensitively. It's one of those things which can turn crass super quickly à la Fifty shades. Here, Aryan does have a lot of Dom traits built into his character, but he doesn't use them to exploit anyone around him.

In Aryan, Imlie, perhaps, for the first time, has someone who treats her like a peer which is to say that he listens to her thoughts not as juvenile dreams or rural solipsism, but as rational thoughts which can be argued upon He doesn't have a devout faith in her ideas. But he doesn't put all the burden of proof on her either. He lets her make her case like a rational adult and does the same in return too.
