Kareena-Prithviraj’s Daayra poster has a chilling detail you may have missed

The mystery around Daayra has deepened with the release of a new poster featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Set against a tense crime-thriller backdrop, the image offers a glimpse into the film’s central conflict without giving away too much. With the trailer arriving on August 31, the poster has already set the stage for a story built around secrets, questions and the search for truth.

The new poster places Kareena and Prithviraj at the centre, standing with their backs against each other. Kareena sports an intense and serious look, while Prithviraj’s appearance carries a similarly restrained but commanding mood. Police tape cuts across the frame, adding to the feeling of an investigation, while a partly hidden face in the background raises even more questions.

The visual separation between the two actors appears deliberate. It suggests that their characters may belong to different sides of the same story, but the nature of their connection remains a mystery. Rather than revealing the plot, the poster carefully builds anticipation for the trailer.

Meghna Gulzar Returns With A New Crime Story

Daayra is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, who has also co-written the screenplay with Yash Keswani and Sima Agarwal. Inspired by true events, the film appears to explore themes of truth, justice and accountability through a layered narrative.

The project also brings together Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios for the first time. For Meghna, it marks another collaboration with Junglee Pictures after acclaimed films Talvar and Raazi. Her association with stories rooted in real events has further added interest to the upcoming thriller.

One of the biggest attractions of Daayra is the pairing of Kareena and Prithviraj, who will be seen together on screen for the first time. 

Produced by Junglee Pictures and Dr Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios and distributed by Pen Marudhar, Daayra will hit cinemas on September 18, 2026. The trailer will be released on August 31, giving audiences their first detailed look at the world behind the mysterious poster.
