You have your opinion about the hijab and I have mine. That’s the beauty of exercising our freedom of speech, freedom of choice and the freedom to practice our religion (whatever it may be).

I strongly believe that a woman should wear whatever they want, whether we like it or not doesn’t matter, because it’s their body and they have the right to decide whether they want to cover or reveal it.

Oppression goes both ways. Forcing a woman to cover up or wear certain clothings against her will is oppression. In the same light, forcing a woman to uncover and wear certain clothings against her will is also oppression.

I’m referring to hijabs only. I have family members and friends who never wore the hijab growing up, but when they started to practice their faith more, they began to put on the hijab. Change happens and it’s fine, so long as it’s not forced.

But the fight is about burqa. You open any news channel and you will see the protesting girls in black tents. I don't think hijab is an issue here so no point in debating over it unless you want to slyly support their demands for burqa by talking about hijab to fool around.

These girls in black tents are not hijabis who are blaming the gov for curbing their rights. Tell me is it the gov or the religion...which one is actually curbing their rights?

If it's mandated by religion, how is it about rights?

And if it is by choice, then they are defying the laws deliberately..

I'd like to know now your views on burqa and their demand to wear at places where there is certain dress code.

I only replied to the post because the member was talking about the hijab. Not referring to burqas because I don’t support it. Hijab is mandated but burqa is not. In saying that, just because I don’t approve or support the burqa means nothing because it ultimately leads back to personal choice. If a person wants to wear it, then that’s their body and their business. Whether I like it or not, I’d never tell another woman what she can or can’t do with her body.

In terms of schools with a uniform, I don’t support fighting to wear a burqa but if it’s only the hijab, then I see no issue with it.

The fight is about “Hijab” … its not about the “black tent”.

The girls are wearing “black tents” because they’re out in the media but when entering the premise of the college they just want to wear “hijab”. Its like talking to a wall, khud ka sar phut jayega samjhate samjhate 🙄

I understand and agree for security reasons a niqab is banned but how is covering your head regressive. Does less clothes equates to progressive society and modest wear equates to regressive society.

Its a women’s choice to wear burkini or bikini, how does it make her regressive or progressive? So lets say a well qualified Doctor becomes regressive because she “chooses” and not “forced” to wear hijab? Her education and the fact that even after coming from a “regressive” religion is all void simply for her choice of outfits.

Lmao. This is hypocrisy 😂

If it's a religious mandate then how is it a choice 🤔

Coming from Muslim family it’s not a choice. Those who say it’s a choice lie or part of the extreme minority households where they are allowed to not be pressured to wear it. I live in US and every time I have to go to relatives I have to wear it.

For privilege people yes its a choice but for majority of women it's not ..comparing sikhs guys turban with hijab n burqa is like comparing apple with oranges .

Indian govt always ignore women rights of Muslim women just because of some vote banks ..if I'm not wrong then these same people had prob with increasing age of marriage age for girls too .

Constitution accepts sharia from backdoor thanks to faddu govt ..

Now you all can call me Islamophobic..

Are you suggesting that they are doing this to promote rights of women 😂

The same ministers will tell you women get raped in India, not Hindustan. 😆

I clearly mentioned that Hijab is mandatory and burqa is not. However, above all mandates, I uphold the freedom to choose. I don’t agree or support your family forcing you to wear something against your will. This applies to a woman wanting and not wanting to wear a hijab. My principle remains the same. Let women wear what they want. Simple.
