Gauhar khan-How is wearing a bikini a woman’s choice ,and wearing a hijab against what she chooses? U see those fierce girl students fearing their patriarchal pressures ,Or them standing up for their right to education?Don’t wish wash how u think it’s a woman’s choice to suit ur convenience

Malala -

“College is forcing us to choose between studies and the hijab”.

Refusing to let girls go to school in their hijabs is horrifying. Objectification of women persists — for wearing less or more. Indian leaders must stop the marginalisation of Muslim women.

It's a uniform. We cannot wear what we want.

It's an educational institute.

All students are same and must concentrate on studies and not on this.

Will anyone wear bikini in school?

And Same students did not wear hijab earlier. Why this suddenly? Why this fake drama and propaganda.

Why always women and girls are used for such propaganda.

And malala, less said the better.

^ Can we please stop getting Sikhs into this discussion. Happened in another topic as well. Their reason behind wearing Turbans and keeping hair is an entirely different case.

Now coming to the topic, I see why a Burqa would be banned. But what exactly is the issue with a hijab? People here are freely allowed to wear whatever they want, Hijab or Bikinis.. so glad to be living in Europe and not another extremist country (India/Pak).

Sikhs have always worn turbans. It's not like one day the boy decided to wear and one day not.

Whereas Hijab and Burqa is not a mandatory religious garment like in Sikhism.

And we can understand if these girls were always wearing hijab as a norm.

But no, the same girls just in the recent past were fine without Hijab.

Only now suddenly everyone wakes up and starts wearing hijab? Do you think it's a choice anymore or a compulsion?

While some Islamic countries are starting to fight against hijab and burqa, in India , a secular and free country, opposite thing going on. What's this sudden love for this?

And at the end of the day, it's a school. Students will unconsciously start feeling separated. Already india is divided enough. Do we need more division even in Schools

Nowhere in the constitution of India does it say that religious symbols are banned in educational institutes. This particular government college clearly decided to enforce its own "law". I understand the intention, but being a public entity it cannot go against the constitution.

These girls are obviously opportunists considering they had no issue till a week back but found a loophole and decided to push the narrative, for moral or financial reasons but its clearly not organic.

They'll easily win the case against the college considering its unconstitutional but will set a bad precedent in a country already at the peak of religious intolerance.

In another thread you had mentioned to another member that she should focus on her own state elections and AAP for the win in Punjab. If you are gladly living in Europe, why does it matter to you who wins a state election in 'extremist' India?

On topic - If the Constitution grants a right, no citizen is above it.

In my school and college, we were asked to remove rakhis, mehendi, sabari mala clothes , anklet etc. Why? Because it was not part of uniform. And we all respected that.

Then why this sudden exception to the Muslim ppl.
