I can understand why that accent got you. When I heard it even I couldn't place the accent.

But... I found out that he was born and spent his childhood in India (if I remember right, he's a Gujarati who was brought up somewhere in north India) and then migrated to Canada. He's pretty down to earth and self deprecating - straight up owns his English ain't good and knows he sounds try hard. (But that's how his accent metamorphosed....)

Btw, you should watch his other videos. He's damn talented. The best portions are where he mutes the sound and then recreates what the scene would actually sound like. Haste haste pet dukh jaaenga. 🤣

I discovered him on this forum, and devour his videos within hours of release, and keep waiting for more 😎

I have actually watched almost all of his revisits. I found the first 3-4 videos funny and the maang meri bharo choice of song is hilarious. But over the course of time, his observations and jokes have gotten stale. Lazy observations really for easy laughs. Got boring after a while

KKHH is a romcom, it never said it was an intelligent, changing the world with social message movie.

Kjo is an idiot for not standing by it, because that’s the only movie of his movie which was raw, original and connected with almost everyone on human level.

It’s my guilty pleasure movie, I like it in bits in pieces. Obviously it doesn’t make sense if you start thinking about all the logistics but it’s still a fun movie nevertheless.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai had a lot wrong with it and is often overrated (like most KJo movies 😆) but I do feel like some people go over the top about how problematic/sexist it is...

I'll admit I actually used used to be of that viewpoint not too long ago, but somehow watching the film on TV recently after growing up a bit myself has changed that...

Like so what if Rahul picked Tina over Anjali initially? Wouldn't most men irl (good ones, bad ones, in the middle ones, straight up evil ones, all included 😆) do the exact same thing?

It is a fact that looks/dressing play a role in who we are attracted to and choose as partners. If Rahul personally preferred a more typically feminine look (not unlike the majority of men), why does that make him such a bad person?

He never intentionally made Anjali feel bad for her own looks/style, so why is simply preferring another type of girl as his gf/future wife so wrong?

Not to mention Rahul was completely unaware of Anjali's feelings towards him until she was basically about to leave town anyway, and thought she saw him only as a friend, so it's not like he used her/messed her around.

And anyway looks weren't necessarily Rahul's only reason for picking Tina either. She was definitely a more calm/mature personality as compared to Anjali who came off just as childish immature as him (if not more so).

Also as for Anjali changing her look later on, in no way was that change "for" Rahul. Anjali never saw Rahul again after getting on that train back to her hometown, so how are people claiming that she changed herself *for* him ?

He married Anjali in the end because she was his best friend who he was now also attracted to, isn't that basically what a lot of us would define as a dream partner?

He was into feminine girls and had every right to be attracted based on his preferences. Anjali was a tomboy and therefore not his type at that time. When Rahul met Anjali after 8 years, she had become more feminine and graceful, which was aligned with his preferences. He began to see her in a new light. Hello sexual attraction, nice to meet ya. It’s as simple as that.

Ya’ll acting like nobody got a type here. Let’s break it down shall we? HR from Main Prem Ki Dewaani Hoon. You gonna look me dead straight in the eye and tell me that you’d fall for a guy who behaves like this?

ImageOR

Would you rather this fine specimen of humanity?

Same person but two complete different characterisations. The way they dress, look and act is as different as chalk and cheese. It’s not my fault that I find the second character 100 x more attractive. That’s what I’m attracted too. For the life of me, I wouldn’t even look at his Prem avatar once forget twice. Same to same scenario for Rahul.

THIS.

A girl leaving college because she didn't get the guy?

You seriously believe that was Indian culture back then?

As someone who was actually alive at the time, I can tell you it was nowhere near normal.

You seriously believe it was okay and normal to wave a bra in a girl's face and make her think they had sex when she was drunk?

Again, not normal. Not right. 100% sexual harassment.

And promoting it as Indian culture!

First of all, as someone already said Simran definitely was not 16 lol, since when do 16 year olds go travelling around Europe in groups of friends with no parents/relatives present 😆.

But on a serious note, the forced marriages of young women here to guys from back home were very much a thing among Indian/Pakistani communities in the U.K. back in those days, so they weren't inaccurate at all with that, actually.

I would say that DDLJ helped call out such regressive practices and question the thinking behind them, if anything, as opposed to movies like Namaste London that glorified it all.
