I’ve met enough men irl to know that not all are attracted to super-feminine women at all. and it isn’t even about who he is attracted to at all that I dislike the movie, it’s the way he treated Anjali. Anyhoo, cheers.

Nothing wrong in that either...do we blame gays and lesbians for liking people of the same sex...nahi na...its their preference...then why blame straight people if they want a girly girl or a manly man?

So was she....they both were nasty to each other at times....

I don't like KKHH....just because I don't like most of SRK's romantic movies ...I don't like DDLJ either😆

Having said that there is nothing wrong if a man doesn't want a tomboyish girl as a partner....just like a woman not liking a feminine looking man......its just a preference.....He started liking her when she was all pretty in a sari.....and like someone said.....her fiancé had not known her when she was a Tomboy...maybe he had a preference for a girly girl too...so what??

See, these movies and most movies of the times didn't simply show it as a personal preference. They disparaged women whose attitudes were not as fragile and delicate, women who wanted higher education, women who wanted to work outside their homes, women who wore Western clothing, etc. etc.

Movies like KKHH and DDLJ made such sexism palatable and helped normalize it.

You said exactly why I’ve been so uncomfortable with movies like KKH!! This! So much this.

… Already said twice people are attracted are attracted to who they’re attracted to & that isn’t even the main point. I didn’t & don’t like the way he treated Anjali in college. 🤷‍♀️ sue me.

Sorry I didn't read with the whole thread...just started with the last page😆...coming to the movie....they both mistreated each other at times....but they both loved each other too..and it was evident when she was leaving the college and he came at the station to stop her from leaving and cried.

I don't like KKHH and DDLJ....but I was just taking about people getting riled up because Rahul started liking Anjali in a different way after she dressed up a woman and not a Tomboy....I didn't see anything wrong in that.....I don't like these movies for other reasons.

if you say so..... lol, no-one cares if you dislike the movie, I don't like the movie either, but the criticism that Rahul only like Anjali once she became feminine, well duh! 😆... and no, it's not just me or the men I know, it's most straight men in general, you're not gonna get many men attracted to a woman who acts and behaves like a dude, unless they were gay.

People (like me) get riled up because KKHH normalized many sexist tropes, including the preference for ultra feminine women. I've listed other offensive things about the movie. Too tired to list them again.

For peeps who claim *most* men prefer such women, here are lists, one Western, one Indian😆:

Its a preference again....nothing wrong with it....what makes me confused though is how did the tomboy Anjali became a sari clad woman??Anyways we can find a lot of problem with a movie made 30 years back...those were different times...and movies do reflect what our society is at that point of time.
