The only reaaon I can think of is he wants to cut all ties related to Kavya to plan for his move to get Mukku's emotional attention. He knows Nandini would be a roadblock to his mission.

He doesnt give a damn about Samar and Nandini's rishta, he saw an opportunity and used it.

what's good for the goose is good for the gander...but not in Vanraj's sake i guess. although they are "together", i still think that Vanraj see Kavya as a wanton women and does not want his son associated with anyone from her family cuz of the disrepute.
