I’ve grown up in a South Asian society. I’ve grown up watching regressive ITV created by the Mata of it. Hopefully you guys will know who I’m referring to. I’ve seen the beginning of SBS era. Today I was pleasantly surprised by a show from that same banner have a discussion about why do women remain in abusive relationships. Today’s episode of that show blew my mind as to how much it relates to Imlie’s situation. The show I’m referring to is BALH2. The onus is always on the woman to keep relationships intact and society has made it normal for a woman to keep on returning to an abusive relationship.

I don’t give a crap as to what a good person AKT is, nor how much he has done for I. Nothing justifies maligning the character of a person. Nothing period. I don’t care if there was miscommunication. You don’t print articles defaming someone with no grounds, you don’t sl*t-shame, you don’t use people to hurt emotions. Journalist integrity ki toh jita laggayi hai. 4 Lions is guilty of always making the FL return to a ML who is always disrespectful and small minded. Hence I am so fed up of this current track of I wanting to desperately go back to AKT.

I’m not going to watch any new episodes for some time. I’ll just get frustrated.

Thank you, I have been writing for the last few days about the despo they have made of a teenage girl who has a lot more going for her than a mid-30s man to worship. I cannot believe what this show is showing and promoting. Shocking and disgusting. They think it will increase TRP to show this drama but it is losing them viewers like nothing else. What a disgusting display of entitlement from AKT. What gives him the right to call Imlie back on a moment's notice or to reject Malini a second time just cause he wasn't feeling it? Now he's screaming her name in his wedding to embarrass her when the only embarrassment is him. The kind of grandstanding this character is doing makes me want to see him get killed off.

U almost forgot he went again threw a tantrum and sat on the mandap with the same girl he didn't want to get married to an hour ago!!

And kya family hai they are trying to stop him k beta mat kar ye shadi q k muhurat beetgaya🤣

I think Malini should taunt him now ab pir mood bangaya🤣

And i tell u this women has zero self-respect ussko apne obsession k age kuch dikhta hi nahi not even herself

Even i doubt k aysa kya hai iss bande me jo iss k, like seriously ISS K piche mare ja rahi hai ye dono..

And God forbid if the girl really runs after the so called fainting spell in the car to her BS the it's official Gul is worse than Ekta!!

While all this makes sense about Malini due to her age and experiences, I want to say this about Imlie (copy-pasting from the DT after yesterday's discussion) because she will run tomorrow. 😆

I know a lot of people are questioning her self-respect, thinking of her as a doormat and asking why she had to burn her mangalsutra, wipe her sindoor and leave him if she still wants to go back to him. But she did all those things because she chose herself and her self-respect. She walked out, tried to ignore his nonsense, give it back to him and also learn from Aryan's words and that's what made her stand all this while. Come d-day, she's still trying to hold strong and seeing the wedding mandap equates it to a funeral pyre of her and Adi's love and decides she doesn't need to put herself through all this. So she chooses to get away from there. But then, Aparna makes an appearance.

With her emotional manipulation, Aparna tries to make Imlie change her decision. Imlie still tries to pay no heed and runs for dear life but the emotional manipulation, coupled with the pain that she's tried to bury in the recesses of her heart, catch up with her and she loses her resolve and decides to give it one last shot. By now, all rationalization has fled from her mind because right now, she's just the 18-year old who came to the city with Aditya. And Aditya was supposed to be her world. She's seen it crumbling once, it's happening again and right now, she's an emotional wreck and can't think beyond that. So she wants to made a last ditch attempt to see if she can still make it work. Despite everything. Is she right in doing this? To us, no. To her, yes, for now. But if she were thinking rationally, even she wouldn't agree with this step of hers.

In her defense, the girl is 19, an emotional wreck and on the verge of losing the only one person who was her world, or the centre of her universe because every decision of her life revolved around him and his family for one whole year. So, her actions make sense to me.

Don't think the CVs thought this deeply. They can barely remember their own timelines.

My issue is not with the said FL my issue is with the 19 year old girl who is subject to all this shit.. what are they trying to sell us in the name of drama!!

That since u don't have a social status come from a reasonable background you would be treated as a dirt with no backbone?

Or evry girl irrespective of the age should agree accept and digest the trash the pati parmeshwar throws at u.. be it in the form of a fiance /bestfriend or mother of the said husband's child..

Are wo khud bachi hai.. just calling her bachi for the sake of dialogue isn't enough.. remember how you used to be when u were 18 or 19?

This show had the base plot which was worse than the extramarital affair wala Silsila.. atleast they had it in them to tell the audience this is what they were intended to show

Yaha toh the kid had to accept the forced marriage

Then see through the husband's 2 marriage and his happiness as a MAID and then when she wished to leave she is lured back into the hellhole on the name of love... Endure evry torture on the name of adjustments and bare the other women whose sole purpose is to degrade her.. AREE WO BACHHI HAI!!

SORRY BUT NO AMOUNT OF REPENTANCE FROM ANY CHARACTER IS GOING TO CUT IT

Copy-pasting from yesterday's discussion :

A thing to note about Imlie is that she's been suffering from PTSD and is also a victim of narcissistic abuse at the hands of Aditya and Tripathis. They have f-cked up her self-perception to such an extent that she doesn't even cry when they slūtshame her.

Aryan is her piller of strength, but he isn't a doctor. Her path to recovery won't be linear. Switch toh nahi hai ki on-off Kar diya. Her breakdown tomorrow is her worst relapse. She will eventually lick her wounds and move on. I don't think it's the lack of self-respect as much as it is all the abuse [and gaslighting] finally catching up with her young psyche.

What the Tripathis and Aditya are making her feel is exactly what narcissists do : that it was your fault and you cannot live without them.

She will take some time to recover. I do agree that the CVs haven't thought it out so deeply, but it is a realistic portrayal of PTSD and Stockholm Syndrome.

If despite all this shit they make Ad-lie the endgame, that'd a mockery and it won't take me a moment to detach myself.

Priya has three things over Imlie :

Experience that comes with age, education, and the fact that she's moved on from a narcissistic relationship. Priya's narcissistic boyfriend screwed her over for her younger sister but that was all that was. Here Imlie was toh literally forced into marriage with this stranger who turned out to be her sister's husband. It's a really effed up situation for her. Her first break-up is literally a divorce. She would take time to normalise.

Priya is what Imlie would be ten years down the line. Aryan has all the potential to be her (albeit grumpy) Ram.
