Yawn.

It was not right of netizens but targeted harassment and trolling to call Rihanna and Diljit Khalistani and separatist just for tweeting for farmers. You cannot call someone secessionist just because he or she supported a protest.

There was NEVER any perfect image of Bollywood as you claim. Magazines, papers and media always kept explosing the debauched lifestyle, affairs, denying due credit and salaries to employees, philandering, casting couch, manipulation, buying awards, attempts to sabotage films of rivals, drugs, alcoholism etc in celeb lives and industry. Infact films like OSO, Fashion, Heroine, Rangeela themselves exposed dark side of glamour world. So do not act like targeted harassment and propaganda by a party exposed dark side of Bollywood. They did that drama to hide their failures in handling COVID crisis and punish stars who are critics of ruling party or have different ideology or are kids of stars who have been critics of govt at some point.

I know stars are paid to campaign for parties. It is even a BIGGER shame that same party that pays stars to do propaganda for it, targets the same industry whose help it seeks to push own ideology. Even worse to target those very people who you pay for lending their services to you.

The politicians and media are no saints themselves. They have their own #metoo moments, bribery, corruption, hate crime, murder cases and other crimes besides blackmailing public figures or being involved in drugs themselves. Who can forget how Rahul Mahajan was exposed for drug abuse and same party spokesperson said 'jawani mein aisi galtiyan ho jati hain' in 2003-04?

Underworld links eh? So who stopped govt and agencies from investigating those stars and producers and taking legal action against them? What stops govt from taking action? And why are same underworld linked stars campaigning for this party? Anil Kapoor was clicked with underworld don (Dawood's brother). Why same Anil is used to campaign for Kirron Kher in Chandigarh?

Do not just say things for the heck of it unless you got evidence or intend to take action to clean the mess you allege. Otherwise it is just abuse of power to intimidate and harass those who you want to either keep quiet or blindly take side of ruling parties.

SRK and Hrithik explain how BW stars could be entrapped in underworld. They could make you sign stuff via fake companies/product so they won't know where the actual funding can come from.

Actually unless a criminal is directly funding, shell companies can be hard to identify.

They may or may not be linked with the party they are giving money too. The actors may not know; but companies and organisations should do their due research before taking the money for campaigns and investments. These days, there are sophisticated AML softwares that can help in tracking any suspicious activities. Its a huge nexus/business.The estimated amount of money laundered globally in one year is 2−5 percent of the global GDP, or in the range of US$800 billion to US$2 trillion.

Drug money is generally redirected and invested in real estate.

@ the ridiculous demand that the BW people need to take a stand against the hazardous products. Why don’t you demand the ministers to whom you vote, who are supposed to regulate these products and make sure that the people that vote for them are protected against these products? Do you know how much money these brands feed these ministers to stay in the market? If they choose to, none of these products can even be sold. How about you direct your ire to the people who can actually make a difference instead of venting on the consumers and advertisers?

I believe that there is a fine line between righteous indignation and vengefulness.

I do believe that Bollywood has been unfairly targeted in the past year. And I wholeheartedly support anyone who was defamed or harassed seeking legal redress and ensuring their harassers get punished. What I don't believe in is an eye for an eye where Bollywood goes back against people and acts without morals.

Also, most of Bollywood has bent over and complied rather than standing up for anything.

I live in hope that bad political actors will dig their own graves like McCarthy.

No you are wrong! Celebrities have no responsibility like the Government. By saying so, you are just trying to protect the corrupt ministers who are responsible for banning the dangerous things like Tobacco, Drugs, junk food and the other things that they are allowing in the market. It’s them you have to catch hold of and demand for answers. But it’s not easy and you are not the only one who picks on the soft targets and puts ridiculous demands on them. Celebrities are not on your paycheck but the Ministers (including the beloved PM) are nothing but our paid servants but it takes intellect, guts and gumption to go and ask them for action and results. You can vent all you want on the Celebrities but NOTHING will change for you. If you are such a self righteous person that you are trying to come through as, stop picking on your fellow citizens and turn your ire on the Ministers instead of coming up with ridiculous justifications for their corrupting ways. If you want change, demand the ministers for answers about why these products that you named are still in the market!

I am going to stop responding to you now. I have seen that you always manage to misinterpret my words. I am an ordinary citizen who gets affected by corrupt politicians. I have absolutely no reason to protect them. But when I can blame the government for not banning pan masala or cigarettes or fairness creams, I will not ignore the stars who have no 'majboori' to endorse these products. You seem a be a person of single focus - either citizens or BW or Ministers. IMO, The world isn't black or white. This or That. A government who doesn't ban say cigarettes, a celebrity who endorses it & a person who smokes in public knowing the effects of passive smoking are all to be blamed. You go on picking & choosing whoever you want to blame.

Bollywood has been targeted for the wrong reasons but it has contributed plenty to existing problems by reinforcing stereotypes.

That they never stand up for each other to keep their own brands safe says something and this isn't a recent thing, it was always been like that. After a certain point, when you have enough money and clout to be able to afford to lose some you can speak up. Ofcourse wealth or fame doesnt make you invincible but if the wealthiest people with enough resources for a back up plan stand by and watch you can't expect much to change for the 'common man'. Before things got this far, if the film industry had used it's power to speak up against the insane climate that was building up it probably would have made a difference. The Aryan episode probably wouldnt have happened if celebs had collectively spoken up during the smear campaign against Rhea.

Fairness creams and pan parag. Again ...while you can't hold it against a newcomer who needs the money and the visibility , there's really no justification when established stars go ahead and endorse those. We can question politicians about the availability of these products but who better than the darlings of society to voice it ?

The film industry is being targeted because 'they' want to polarise every cultural space in the country and get people to take sides, willingly or out if fear.

I hope Shah Rukh Khan packs and leaves and talks to the media abroad about what happened to his son . Not easy for him but if he does , that would be great. These people should be shamed globally or they'll get another term and that would be it for the country.

If foreign celebrities can quote Mahatma "Ghandi" they can comment on ongoing protests in India too. Rihanna can tweet about whatever the hell she wants as long as she isn't cooking up stories and spreading hate like a certain Indian celebrity. All she said was "Why is no one talking about this?" referring to the farmers ' protests . Getting all territorial and telling her to back off because it's an internal matter is funny because she's no ambassador of nowhere and her opinion is inconsequential at the end of the day. Trump has said unflattering things about India but these people have no trouble sucking up to him. His daughter Ivanka who has no business attending any of these events , comes to India ,shares a dias with Nirmala Sitaraman and rambles on about women this empowerment that when she's never had to work or earn a living, except for making excuses for her father's behaviour and sitting on his lap and these people didn't think of telling her to f(_)ck off.
