It happens on social media as well that celebs take part in such campaigns. It's obvious when a bunch of celebrities are saying the same thing. It's either jumping on the bandwagon or a scripted campaign. The government sponsored ones are usually highlighted but there are others too. Rihanna received backlash not just for her scripted tweet about the farmers protests (her tweet featured in the leaked Toolkit) but also when she tweeted on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict not too long ago. That tweet was neutral but seemingly scripted/paid. Celebrities have that influence and people will call them out over how they use it. Deepika received praise from a prominent Pakistani figure for her "brave" stance going to JNU protests. People can draw their own conclusions.

Was probably scripted by her PR because anything India related gets tons of views. It's like those reaction videos by white vloggers who talk about Aishwarya's appearance on David Letterman's show or about some other Indian thing to get self loathing Indians to flock in for validation. I bet thousands of Indians who had never heard about her before the tweet googled her ,listened to her songs and jerked off to her pics before posting nonsense about her the next day . Some said she was working for Jeff Bezos and helping him wreck India 😆.
