Mohanlal is a very good actor but not ' the complete actor ' like he refers to himself in his blog lol I'd say he's better than Bachchan but he chose to be a star . He was way better in his earlier films like Kattathe Kilikood ,Chitram or the ones with Sreenivasan before he got into the superstar thing with larger than life roles. Other than talent what Bachchan and Lal have in common is narcissism.

Oh, that is true enough. But I find most actors a bit narcissistic. I know some behave humbly, but the ones who have wide audience acceptance invariably turn out to be egotistical.

I'm afraid that's not true. Take Monty Python for example. Nobody looks down on them, quite the contrary. They were a phenomenon.

If you're talking about India, most topics are off limits so writers/actors are left with slapstick and buffoonery so that has something to do with why comedians are seen as inferior. Even stand up comedy in India sucks for the most part because of this reason. They have to walk on eggshells.
