Played such amazing villains that you dislike the actors (a little?) - Page 3

One actor who’s acting as a villain impacted my life so much that I was terrified of him for years and years is Ashutosh Rana 😬😬 but I didn’t hate him but it was hard to watch his scenes so I used fast forward. As I grew older I learned to appreciate his craft and acting skills 😭😭😭 now I lope him 😍😍 I watch movies if I see his name 😂 so our hate to love took quite unexpected turn 😆

Edited: It’s so comforting to know that Rana scared a lot of people out their minds and I’m not alone at all.🤣🤣

Ashutosh Rana. I hated him and was scared of him as a kid after watching him in Dushman and Sangharsh. I rather felt shocked why a sweet looking Renuka Shahane married 'a man like him'. He was that scary and effective in his villainous roles.

Others include Prem Chopra (I never believed he could be nice), Ranjeet, Danny Denzogpa, Raza Murad, Gulshan Grover, Amjad Khan, Govind Namdeo, Bindu, Shashikala, Lalita Pawar, Kittu Gidwani, Kunika and that guy who was villain in most 90s films like Gopi Kishen, Gundaraj, Imtihaan, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Mrityudand (I forgot his name), Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Sayaji Shinde, the tall guy who played ghost in all Ramsay Brothers films and horror shows (forgot his name too, he was in Ram Lakhan and Bandit Queen too), Shakti Kapoor, Rahul Dev (especially after Champion and Aashiq), the guy who played villain in Murder 2 (forgot his name), Dalip Tahil, Kabir Bedi (after Khoon Bhari Maang), Jeevan, Kiran Kumar, another light eyed actor who played villain in Tridev, Tezaab, Aarzoo, Dil Tera Aashiq (forgot his name, but his sister did vamp roles too) .

I actually disliked these actors and felt they must be scary or nasty in real life too.

Ironically the most iconic villains like Pran, Amrish Puri and Ajit never seemed dislikeable to me. Nor I believed they must be bad in real life too. I enjoyed watching their larger than life roles like Mogambo and Lion.

As a child, I really used to hate Amrish Puri. He played so many villains that my perception of him was this vile evil person. But looking back as an adult, most of his roles are exaggerated caricatures. I mean they are still iconic and he performed phenomenally, but they're not as loathsome and scary if you get what I mean.

I used to think Aruna Irani was always the evil saas or bua or something. Then my parents made me watch Bombay to Goa and I had my mind blown.

I think one of the most chilling villain performances is Kabir Bedi in Khoon Bhari Maang. And I think its because it's not your stereotypical bad guy who is creepy and sleazy right away. He comes across as suave, charming, and genuinely caring. The villainy is hidden under the veneer of charm. It gave me chills as a child, but it gives me chills as an adult too. Because two-faced people who flip who they are to get what they want are a real threat.
