With spooky spiders welcoming and pumpkin pies inviting let's get into the spookiest ride of the year! Halloween has always been known as a bone-chilling festival with all scary and spooky things getting on our way helping us to have spookilicious fun. But digging a little deeper into the laughing skeletons and riding witches let us see where actually Halloween comes from!!

Halloween is a part of a triduum that starts from 31st of October to the 2nd of November remembering all those who have departed. Halloween is also known as All Saints Eve and is followed by All Saints Day observed on the 1st of November and All Souls Day observed on the 2nd of November. The roots of this tradition 'Halloween' also have connections with a pagan religious festival which has its origin from a Celtic spiritual tradition.

During the eighth century, Pope Gregory III associated the 1st of November to honor all the Saints (also known as Hallow's day). Sooner the day before (31st October) became the eve of honoring the Hallow's thus deriving its name from All Hallow's evening and later became Halloween. Traditionally churches conduct services remembering the departed souls who have yet to reach Heaven and families of the deceased light candles on the graves. Later celebrations with big bonfires emerged. Parades were conducted and people loved dressing up in costumes such as saints, angels and devils.

Modern-time Halloween celebration has long forgotten the triduum and evolved into a festival that includes activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes, and eating treats. Getting high on sugar, ghost pranking, witch crafting became more popular over time.

Even later times introduced a new way of celebrating Halloween indoors by watching horror movies, cooking pumpkin pies, apple bread, and pumpkin bread. Celebrations amidst Pandemic have their own risks and events are categorized into low, medium, and high-risk activities ensuring to have a safe yet fun-filled Halloween!
