I'm Hindu Gujarati and my mom and relatives have never wore sindoor in their life. Never seen anyone celebrate Karwa Chauth either. Mangal Sutra is also only given on the wedding day but nobody actually wears it after that. My mom wouldn't even be able to find hers.

There are various customs in various groups. These horrible bots and their party are trying to force things on everyone to prove what they are. It's revolting.

My guess is that polygamy was welcome but men eyeing a married woman was not. So it’s probably like a mark that she is taken.

Also, earlier women were vulnerable. A man, like king, courtier etc could get smitten by a married woman and take her away and even kill her husband to get her. So practices like all this bindi, sindoor etc and even veiling/ ghooghat.

I have read that Akbar even got one of the men in court Abdul wasi to divorce his wife in order to marry her 😆

Karwa chauth is a punjabi / UP custom.

No one anyways follows any rituals in my family as we are Radhasoami 😆

But yes, no sindoor, only mangalsutra and bindis are worn. Humare yahan toh even pheras don’t happen now. Only court marriages happen. People get married in 10 mins 😆
