Yes, Shaurya was utterly let down when he realized that the woman who left him and his son behind was why he abandoned his flask of liquor. But what hurt him more was his his lack of understanding towards his situation. Shaan wasn't even apologetic for being neglectful towards Shaurya. One phone call and Aastha had his entire attention and dedication.

It hurts my heart for Shaurya - the son who got left behind.

I also feel Shaan has a lot to answer for...

Absolutely! Shaan was merely shown as a spineless man who couldn't muster courage to stand up for his wife and later couldn't bring himself to raise Shaurya...

His failed and he also makes himself look like the victim.

How can anyone expect Shaurya to show respect care and concern towards his dad given the circumstances he was brought up in and the neglect he faced from his dad who was only physically present. And the latest addition to this is that he recommends Astha’s student for admission. Why Shaan never tries to clear the air to Shaurya about his mother? He is always shown to be on the verge of revealing something but stops himself. For a second, during the conversation in the living room Shaurya seems to be concerned about his dad’s and mom’s mysterious truth but it is swept away by Shaan himself in the process of defending Anokhi as a prospective student.

I might sound a bit mean but I love how he says that his dad is a puppet being controlled by the press of a remote control button. Whenever he addresses his mom as ,your wife’ and ‘woh aurat ’ more than being angry at him I find him cute enough to shower him with so much love that he could’ve received as a child from his mom. I might be sounding a bit odd but I rewatch these scenes so many times as I find them adorable. May be it’s kv’s acting that made me fall in love with these scenes and Shaurya’s karelapan.

@bold: Shaan never took responsibility for his part at all. When I watched these episodes the first time, I was just so happy for Anokhi and her having someone in her corner that I totally ignored Shaurya's pain. I was so annoyed by his character that I had glossed over some of the reasons for his anger. This rewatch makes me really dislike Shaan.

Exactly! In fact if you watch Aastha-Shaan interactions in the entire serial, Shaan ignored Aastha's complains of him not supporting her. He just kept chanting 'vapas ajao' all the damn time. It was annoying. 😑

I always disliked him.... I thought he was too ignorant towards others. Sab ka dukh ek taraf aur uska DUKH ek taraf. He always thought his pain was more than the others.
