PART 1
Raavi groaned slightly as her sleep got disturbed due to the sunlight entering the room. She always kept that window closed to not face this problem. Then how this shameless sun was staring her? Did her Bhoothnath wake up early and did this on purpose? She could definitely expect that of him. Gadhera! She peeked at Shiva’s side to find it empty. She was right then? She groaned in frustration again. He could never change. 3 months had passed since their marriage. But their relationship hadn’t moved a bit. If they took one step forward then somehow they would find themselves 5 steps backward. At the end, they would return to square one - where Shiva hated Raavi and Raavi annoyed him but seek his attention. One new trait was added, that was Shiva now ignored Raavi like a plague. They hadn’t ignored each other before, not ever, no matter how many petty fight they had, how hurtful their words were.
Raavi sighed again already exhausted with his behaviours. But how come he woke up early today!! She had almost all the time woke up before him. Sometimes they would wake up at the same time and race to the washroom like the kids they were, if she won then Shiva would not bath for that day. As if he bathed everyday! Well, he did actually unlike before. Then there would be that cat and mouse game where he would try to pretend she didn’t exist but she would attempt to get him talk. But that always resulted in a fight where he would keep bringing her words from diary and misinterpret her every words It was good thing that he got up already. No early fights today. Taking a deep breath, she decided to greet the day – one more day with that idiot Bhoothnath who was expert in misinterpreting words. She groggily got up and took in her surroundings sleepily, only to have all sleep fly out of the window. This wasn’t their room in the Pandya Niwas. This was her room in her maasi’s house. She tried rubbing her eyes and looking around again. No, it was still the same. Her previous room. How did she land up here?
She tried to remember last night. She and Shiva argued badly in their room over how he treated her in the Sawan Puja function throwing many colorful words at each other. Actually Shiva called himself names and refused to hear her making her agitated beyond limit. Then she left the house in anger threatening him some ultimatum may be. It was raining when she was walking on the road thinking how they will find their the way back to normal life. She was oblivious of her surroundings and suddenly something hit her hard. Then blank. Everything blacked out and she didn’t remember what happened after that. What hit her? Did she met an accident? Then shouldn’t she be in hospital or in their room with bandages and all? She checked her body but there was no injury to be seen. Why did she was here? Did she come here for a few days to get some peace? Or did Shiva leave her like he wanted? She chuckled sadly.
Absentmindedly, she got up and stopped on her track as she took in the figure visible in the mirror. There was standing Raavi in her tshirt and pajamas – her night dress before marriage -,with no sindoor or mangalsutra adorning her. She frowned at her reflection and looked down at the dressing table. All her things were there except Sindoor dibbi. But she had taken most of these accessories with her after marriage. In fact she moved a lot of things to Pandya Niwas after their return from haveli. That was her home and her belongings should be there too. Then what was all this?
Was she dreaming or something? Frowning she pinched her arm really hard to wake up from whatever illusion she was seeing only to shout out in pain. Her masi came running in,
“aee Raavi, tu chik kyun rahi thi? Bura sapna dekha kya beta” , Her maasi asked as she lovingly caressed her hair. Yes!! maasi could answer her when did she come here?
“Maasima. Main yahan kab aayi?”, she watched as Prafulla’s expression changed to frown,
“kab aayi! Kyun aaye, bhai? yeh teri ghar hai, tu toh yaha hi rehti hai ne Raavi”, Raavi rolled her eyes at her maasi, of course her maasi didn’t like Shiva and would do anything to keep him away,
“aap yeh kya keh rahe ho maasi. Main yaha kyun rahungi. Meri shadi ho chuki hai aur aab toh main Pandya Niwas mein hi rahunga na”,
“Pandya Niwas!!!”,Prafulla hit her head as if some realisation dawned on her, “ayy bhai, tu phirse dev ke sapne dekh rahi thi. Suman ben ne bola na kar denge tum dono ke roka kuch dino mei...”,
“Dev! Woh kaha se aaya aur main usska sapna kyun dekhungi. Meri toh shaad.....”,
“rehne de beta, subah subah shuru matt kar dena aap na Dev jaap. Tu jaa ke tayar ho ja. Main jaati hu warna meri dimag satiya jayegi”, her maasi went away blabbering to herself.
Raavi looked around trying to decipher her Maasima's words. She was married to Shiva and now really wanted a future with him. Where was Dev in all this? And he was married too. Maasima definitely woke up on the wrong side today.
But the question remained. Why was she here? Where was her wedding symbols? What did Shiva do? She needed to meet him and get her answers.

Raavi entered the Pandya Niwas hurriedly. Her feet automatically moved towards their room only to find it locked from outside. Opening it she looked in. What!! It was still a storeroom?! But she and Shiva..... Her chain of thought broke as she heard Krish behind her.
“lo aa gayi Dev ke Paru subah ke pehle kiran par. Jay Somnath!!”, She frowned at his words, “par tu waha kya dhoond rahi hai? Tere Dev babu udhar abhi bhi so rahe hai chain se”,
Confused, she followed him to the well and looked towards the cots. She frowned seeing two cots there. Dev was still half asleep in his and Krish was washing his face. Why was Dev sleeping in a cot out here? Did Rishita kick him out in anger? She tried not to giggle at the thought.
Dhara came out hearing Krish,
“Arreh, Raavi tu kab aayi. Aawaz bhi nahi di”, she reciprocated Dhara’s hug and looked around with a frown. Where was her gadhera!! Did he already leave for the store? But it was too early to even open the store,
“tu baith yaha. Main nashta lagati hu. Tune jaroor nahi khaya hoga”, Raavi hesitantly smiled at Dhara as she went back to kitchen asking Dev to freshen up quickly. Sighing Raavi sat beside Krish who was doing something on his mobile sitting on the step.
“Krish yeh Shiva kaha hai”,
“hoga apna ghar”, She frowned at his nonchalant answer. If he was here then why couldn’t she see him. He would leave with Gaumbi everyday and she could clearly see Gaumbi in the puja room. Then he should be here somewhere. Was he in kitchen?
“phir dikh kyun nahi raha?”,
“woh apna ghar mein hai toh yaha kaise dikhega. Tu akhon mein telescope lagake usske ghar mein toh nahi jhank raha!!”, Raavi narrowed her eyes at Krish. What was he joking on? This boy always joked something that was either too idiotic or simply ungraspable.
“Tu yeh kya bak raha Krish. Seedha seedha bol na”,
“Waise tu usse kyun dhoond ne lagi achanak, Dev toh hai yaha”, Krish leaned to her curiously. Raavi was getting frustrated now. What was all this Dev, Dev? Where was Rishita? Did he have a memory loss that he forgot everything? If Rishita heard him, then she wasn’t going to save him from Rishita today. She was about to threaten Krish to reveal Shiva’s whereabouts when the man himself made an appearance. He walked into the hall through the front door,
“lo aa gaya tera Shiva”, Krish grinned hugging Shiva as if he was seeing him after a long time,
“kya matlab tera Krish”,
“tu itna subah kaha gaya tha?”, Krish rolled his eyes and sat down again with Shiva on his other side. Shiva frowned and looked at Raavi closely,
“ Yeh Raavi hai na? Itni subah aa gayi?”, Raavi frowned at his words and tone of amusement. She was about to retort when Gaumbi came with aarti,
“Shivaa! Aa gaya tu? Mujhe laga tujhe der hoga”,Gaumbi said offering them aarti, then proceeded to hug Shiva happily,
“ Main toh raat ke 2 baje hi nikal gaya tha, gadi bhagaya aur jaldi pounch gaya. Aaj itna important din hai, late kaise kar sakta tha Gaumbi,”,
“Important?? matlab tujhe yaad hai”, Dhara asked beaming at Shiva as she came out with a tray. Her all excitement paled hearing his reply,
“kya Dii!! Mujhe nahi hoga toh kisse hoga. Maine pehle ghar jaake aapna bag rakhke aaya. Aaye haye, kya halat banayi hai ghar ki! kya bolu! Aapna jaldi jaake ghar saaf kar dena. Aap nahi jaate toh koyi saf bhi nahi kar ta.Aur woh humara adhe umr ke chachaji pata nehi kya karte rehte hai”,
DI!!! Why was Shiva calling his sister in law Di?,
“tu chachaji kisse bol raha hai”, Dev asked as he tried to take a cup of the tray Dhara was holding, but she angrily left making Dev pout,
“mera sau saal purana bhai, Hardik Shah aur kaun”, Shiva said high-fing Krish. Gaumbi shook his head disapprovingly. Raavi felt like being dumped wtih cold water hearing his words, Di, Bhai?
“tum dono mere dost pe has rahe ho”
“kya Gaumbi. Aap dekho abhi bhi kitni fit aur handsome ho. Aur waha aapka dost, unhe dekh ke lagta hai duniya ke saare umr shayad unhi ko diya hua hai”,
“ Bah beta, kiya makhan lagaya hai”, Krish exclaimed as he sipped his tea,
“makkhan! matlab main tum dono ko buddha dik ta hu”, Gaumbi said pinching the duos ears,
“kaha Gaumbi maine sacchi mein bola. Mere Jiju pure Somnath ke sabse handsome and best hai. Yeh gadhere ne bulaya hai aapko buddha”, Shiva smacked an already wincing Krish.
Another shock went thorough Raavi -Gaumbi! Shiva's Jiju? How?
“yeh saab bakwas ban kar aur khana kha le. Ghar saaf karna hai toh Di ke yaad aaya. Warna iss ghar ke aas paas bhi nahi dikhte. Ghar kya, Somnath mein bhi nahi dikhte. Tujhe toh Ahmedabad wale Pandya store se shadi kar ke Mr Shah se Mrs Pandya ban jana chaiye. Wohi tera pehla, akheri aur saccha pyaar hai, sasural bhi ban jayegi”, Dhara grumbled as she served everyone.
Raavi moved her head around trying to understand what was going on? What crap they were playing at?
But Dhara's words felt like a bomb was dropped on Raavi. Di, jiju, bhai, Shah!!! What was all these? How could Shiva be a Shah? He was a Pandya through and through. He was Dhara's devar cum child. How could he be her brother? What was happening with her? Did she really hit her head somewhere? Was she dreaming? No, no she checked that already. She could not be dreaming. But she didn’t belong to this reality. It was not her world. She felt the world around her spin and a haze gather in her vision. Then everything went blank for her.

Raavi opened her eyes slowly and looked around. She was in Dev and Rishita's room. How come she was here? Then she remembered the incidents before she lost consciousness. She didn’t know where she was. She felt dread and panic sip through her. Where was she actually and what was she going to do? She needed to find out everything and go back. She quickly got up and made her way out of the room. The hall was decorated with many lights and flowers. What was special today?
“Uth gayi Raavi? Ek baat bata aaj kya vrat rakha hai koi, Dev ke liye, joh khana ke begair ghum rahi hai?”, Raavi looked beside her startled at Shiva's sudden appearance. Fast for Dev! She wished she could hit something either on his head or hers. It might help her wake up in her world then. But she felt a bit calm seeing him and tried not to freak out,
“yeh sajawat? Aaj kuch khass hai kya?”,
“Tujhe yaad nahi? Waise toh Di aur Dev bohat tarif karte hai teri ke tujhe saab yad rehte hai”, Raavi massaged her temple as Shiva spoke, this Shiva blabbered a lot – she concluded, ”Aaj Di-Jiju ka daswi saal gira hai. Isliye toh....”, Raavi didn’t hear his rest sentence as daswi saal gira kept ringing in her ears. Their anniversary happened 5 months ago only. All four pandya boys and Hardik surprised Dhara that day. Then the following day everyone attended Kanta Kaki's daughter’s Godh bharai. Then so many things happened and their life changed.
“abbe oo heroine , Dev idhar hi hai. Phir kis ke khayalo mein jake baith gayi?”,
“Shiva, aaj ka date kya hai?”,
“19th March”, Raavi widened her eyes hearing that. She looked ready to faint again. Shiva quickly held her by her shoulders and lead her to the sofa nearby,
“tu phirse behosh matt ho na. Bohat bhari hai tu. Firse nahi uthaunga tujhe”,
“isse kya hua?”, Dev asked as he, Krish, Gaumbi and Hardik crowded around her. Shiva shrugged and tried to get up making her sit but she had clutched his shirt end tightly forcing him to sit with her.
“chal khana le ke aate hai, issne zaroor subah se khaya nahi. Aur hum bhi lunch kar lenge, phir aur bhi tayyari baki hai”, Gaumbi instructed them and turned to Shiva, “Shiva tu baith iss ke saath”.
Raavj watched in amazement as Shiva nodded to Gaumbi with any complaints.

Rest of the evening went smoothly as per the boys plan. They plus Raavi and Maa had surprised Dhara who was ecstatic. Raavi wanted to leave to think in peace about what was going on but had to postpone her worries for night as the boys blackmailed her emotionally to stay back stating how happy Dhara would be seeing her and all. Now that she was here, she tried to enjoy with them. Normally she would be jumping on such occasion and would be the most enthusiastic one. But here she didn’t feel even an ounce of excitement. Shiva too had no problem with her being around and looked all cool. She should be happy but she didn’t feel herself. She felt something nagging her nerves. Something wasn’t right. She wouldn’t be able to rest till she figured out what was happening. How did she land up in an alternative universe? Alternative universe!! Was she really somewhere else? Nothing was making sense to her. She felt a poking on her upper arm to find Krish and Shiva looking at her with concern. She lightly shook her head and put on her ever bright smile on her face. No one saw through her facade of being jolly. Everyone sat in the hall after dinner.
“maa main kya soch rahi thi, kyun na hum kal hi Maami ke ghar jaaye Raavi ka haath mangne”, Dhara asked Suman in flow of their conversation. Raavi stiffened hearing her. She was yet to understand her situation. One thing she knew she wasn’t supposed to be here. This wasn't her reality and she felt stuck here. And here they were talking about her marriage with Dev! What about Rishita? Dev didn’t tell his family about her yet? Dhara mentioned once that they got to know about Rishita after haldi only. This coward of a friend of hers could never change. She didn’t want to go through those dramas and humiliation again and decided to reveal about Rishita herself. She would be doing a favor to this world's people and Dev.
“Kiske liye Dii?”
“Dev ke liye”, everyone looked at her as if she had sprouted horns out,
“par Dev toh kisi aur se pyar karte hai”, she said turning to Dev who frowned at her looking confused – why was he confused now? She just made clear way for him,
“kya?”, all turned their heads to Dev in sync and gaped at him with wide eyes,
“Yaha tere ek paro ke darshan se main thak chuka hu, pan tu!! tu ne toh Chandra mukhi bhi pasand kar liya!”, Krish asked partly shocked partly amused,
“Tu phir bola!!”, Dhara, Gaumbi and Shiva shouted together,
“Dev yeh kabse chal raha hai? Tu kab batane wala tha hume”, Dhara asked coming in front of him,
“bhabi mujhe khud bhi nahi pata. Mujhe toh khud Raavi spata chal raha hai”,
“chupa kyun rahe ho Dev, tum Rishita se pyar nahi karte ho?”, Raavi felt furious at his denial. She had witnessed herself and this whole family suffer because of him. He had almost destroyed her and Rishita's life single handedly. She was still suffering along with Shiva. All thanks to his cowardice.
“Rishita! Janardhan ke beti? ”, Hardik asked frowning at Dev and Raavi. Raavi nodded her head earnestly but Dev shook his head in a no,
“Rishita? Woh toh mera batchmate hai. Tu janta hai usse Shiva. Batchmate ke alawa hum dono ke bich koyi aur sambandh nahi hai. Humare toh dhang se baat bhi nahi hota hai. Tumhe koyi galat fehmi hoyi hogi, Raavi”, Misunderstanding!! She had literary lived through it. She misunderstood it once and wouldn’t do it again.
“haa bhabi. Isse shayad koyi galat fehmi huyi hogi ya phir aise hi ghuma rahi hai sab ko”, Raavi felt restless hearing Shiva. What did he mean Dev didn’t love Rishita? He did in her reality. He should in this too.
“Dev tu Raavi se pyar karta hai na?”, Dhara asked as she had assumed them to be childhood sweethearts. Raavi turned to Dev expecting him to deny any feelings for her. Dev uncomfortably shook his head negatively making Raavi take a deep breath in relief. Everyone else was stunned with the revelations.
“Koyi nahi. Shadi toh karna hai kisi din. Raavi bohat acchi ladki hai. Dev tujhe khush rakkhega, Raavi. Hum kal jahenge Dev ka rishta leke”,
“Saro che. Tere Pandya bahu banne ka sapna adhura nahi rehne denge”, Raavi felt some unknown fear crawling up her spine hearing Gaumbi and Dhara. What were they talking about? Why were they insisting on getting her married to Dev? Yes, she dreamt of becoming a Pandya bahu but now she wasn't sure of it. Her brain was not in a position to process anything.
“Mujhe naa samajh nahi aata di, aap iske jaise tubelight se dev ki shaadi karane pe kyun tuli ho? Isske shakal dekho, iska fuse abhi bhi uda huya hai!”, Shiva and Krish hi-fed each other laughing at her expense. Raavi felt confused. She wanted to be irritated with his teasing but also wanted to agree with his question,
“aab bhabi toh bana nahi sakti, kyun ki tu haa karega nahi. Toh devrani hi sahi?”, Dhara said slapping his arm, Shiva pretended to be petrified at the thought,
“haa dikra. tere ghar me ek aurat honi chaiye aab. Kab tak meri bahu ko lekar khicha tani karega?”, Hardik and Shiva smiled happily hearing Suman’s love for their sister,
“kya kaki, aise darawni sapna math dikhao. Hume nikal na chaiye”, Shiva replied playfully and hugged her and Dhara,
“Shiva, Raavi ko drop karte huye jaana”,
“Dii, Dev se kaho na uska raita woh samete. Mere pe kya daal rahe ho”,
“Tu udhar se hi jayega. Mujhe apna Devar ko itne raat ko bahar nahi bhejna”, Dhara said in a no nonsense tone,
“yeh dev hai ya devi”, Krish joked earning a smack from Dev,
“Raavi ji? Aaj ke liye ghar chaliye, aapka yaha permanent thikana ban jayega jaldi”, Raavi silently followed Shiva out, Hardik following behind.
As they drove to her maasi's house, Raavi felt her anxiety rising again. She couldn’t have dreamt those almost 5 months. Those moments felt too much real to be just a creation of her mind. Also why would she dream such things? Unless she was foreshown her fate. No, it could not be fate lest Shiva should be Pandya here. She was sure. It was those alternative universe thingy! She could never think of a scenario where Shiva won't be a Pandya. So the chance of them all being dream was ZERO. This was whole different reality. What she couldn’t understand was how did she land in here? Last time she remembered she didn’t belong to any Harry Potter Universe or Marvel Universe. This all logic felt real and unreal at the same time. Her head hurt more as she kept mulling over the facts. She rested her temple on Shiva's back and closed her eyes. She subconsciously noted- this Shiva didn’t smell like her Shiva.
Raavi came out of her thoughts as the bike stopped with a jerk. They had reached Maasi's house. Shiva waited for Raavi to get down. But she didn’t get down. She sat behind him staring at the back of his head. He looked behind at her with concern.
“Raavi?”,
“Huh”, She said lost in thought,
“kab se dekh raha hu kya soche jaa rahi hai. Krish keh raha tha aaj tune ek baar bhi Dev jaap nahi kiya. Tu thik toh hai na?”,
“Shiva tujhe koyi problem nahin hai agar mere shadi Dev se huyi toh”, Raavi asked expecting him to threaten her to forget Dev and her aim of becoming Pandya bahu. Shiva chuckled at her confusingly.
“Mujhe kyun problem hogi bhala?”,
“aise kaise?? tujhe chillana chaiye, mujhe dhamki dene chaiye usse dur rehne ke liye”,
“Main kirane ki dukan mein baith taa hu naaki dhamki ki dukan mein”, he replied sarcastically then made her get down and got down himself, “ Aur nahi main Dev ki deewani hu. Kiya baki jaa rahi hai kab se?Pehle toh Dev ko kisike aashiq bana diya, aur aab mujhe teri kahani ka villain bana rahi hai”, he held her by her shoulder gently peering at her inquisitively,
“Shiva main....”,
“aee bhai aab aa rahi hai tu? Mujhe pata tha tu pandy niwas hi jayegi. Pan bina bataye aise kon jataa hai bhai?”, They were interrupted by Prafulla who then noticed Shiva, “arre Siva, tu kab aaya?Andar aa na? Kitne din tak hai yaha?”,
Raavi looked between Shiva and her Maasi. It didn’t look like either of them hated each other. There was no raging anger in Shiva's eyes, neither Prafulla looked at him with complete disgust. She could guess that they were not exactly fond of each other, but they were too calm for her liking.
“Aap janke kya karoge mami. Pan aap ke beti ke shaadi khake jaunga jaroor”, Shiva replied Prafulla coolly then turning to Raavi he nodded, “main chalta hu, tu aapna khayal rakhna”, he rode off leaving Raavi looking at his trail.
_____________________________________
Raavi tried sleeping early that night thinking she would wake up in her reality with that bhoothnath next to her. But her luck, neither she got any proper sleep nor she woke up else where. She stayed stuck to a reality she didn’t want. Since she was getting any sleep, she decided to pen down the major misfits here. To her dismay, she didn’t find a single diary in this room. Did this Raavi not keep diary? Well, she didn’t know what to feel about that, for her husband had formed some opinion about her reading her diary. She took out a notebook and started writing.
The first name that came in her mind was Shiva. He was so different here. Every thing about him was misfit to Raavi. His mannerisms - He was too gentlemanly and soft spoken. His dressing was also different. He had worn a fitted t-shirt and geans jacket with blue jeans today. No matter how handsome he looked, he didn’t feel her Shiva. But most importantly, he was not a Pandya. How he could not be a Pandya!!!
Then to her utter dismay, there was no Rishita here. Dev didn’t love anyone, including herself that made her relieved. But again, he looked okay with the idea of them marrying. In fact everyone was welcome to the idea, even Shiva. Raavi wasn’t okay with it. She wasn’t the previous Raavi anymore, who would go gaga over a mere mention of Dev. She was actually disgusted with the idea of her and Dev. Raavi chuckled realising how much she had changed. In fact, she was astonished to find that the only man she could see as her husband now was Shiva. The Shiva who was unfiltered, rude, arrogant yet caring, protective and gentle when needed. She actually missed Shiva.
But she was stuck here, away from her family and Shiva. Sighing, she half lied down with the note book still in her hand.
