I watched this YouTube video of a costume designer who explained the importance of clothing. She essentially said costumes are supposed to be a reflection of the character's personality... if they are Mary Sue characters, you dress them in neutral colors and plain clothing, if they are divas, you experiment with fashion styles and colors...

With Shiva's explosive, chaotic personality, I would've had him dressed in colorful, chaotic shirts with a bandana always wrapped around his wrist (he could use it to brush aside his long hair whenever he is doing loads because he is too lazy to get a haircut). His vest would be plain, netted, graphic tee styled. People who look at him would immediately think he is too chaotic, but he somehow makes everything work out in retrospect.

Raavi, meanwhile, should be dressed in more form fitting, stylish clothing. She's the cutest girl of all of Somnath, and this should be reflected in her makeup and accessories. I envision her to always wear bangles (that Shiva teases her for since he is able to hear her before he sees her), necklace, visible earrings. She would be dressed in color coordinated pastel and dark colors. As nice as Raavi looks in black, I would save black, deep red, and deep green for special occasions when she is supposed to capture Shiva's interest
