I was just watching Deewana and in a scene where SRk is going crazy over Divya, his friend says "Kal holi hai, mauka bhi hai dastur bhi, utha lete hai"

Like seriously wtf, we don't celebrate Holi for abducting women.

Why in bollywood they have used Holi so many times to execute crimes like rape, kidnapping and eve-teasing?

when I was very small and the first holi I can remember in my life, my brothers friends forcing themselves in to our house, banging doors and dragging my brother out to apply color. This traumatised me after that these movies made me phobic further. I still have night mares of this festival atleast once in a month.

But I realise today my mom was not letting my brother to play and his friends are actually helping my brother to come out and play..

There is one more festival in Telengana that brings shivers too. 😭 The guy who gets drunk and chases people on roads to whip them. As a kid I didn't understand and get traumatised instead.

Movies play a bigger role to give stupid ideas and incite violence.

Glorification of eve teasers, gunda and mawalis, Kabir singhs actually impact the psyche of society

What religion got to do anything with it? The dialogue is the problem not holi and there is no need to bring religion into the topic..in Bollywood movies there have been so many times they have shown crimes like rape, eve-teasing and also kidnapping.... that is wrong but this is happening in the society regardless of any festival....

You are reading too much into this. The abducting women part is definitely problematic but it depends on how that arc plays out in the story ,whether the abductor is made to pay for it etc . Holi is convenient for such scenes because there's chaos. There are too many people at a given place with nobody paying much attention to one particular person. It's easier to abduct people or steal their wallets during Holi celebrations. Please don't start threads with communal undertones.

Scene is definitely trigger worthy, but I think your trigger is misplaced

You should get triggered about consent issues and violence against women, instead of religion.

These incidents happen in real life too. Can't vouch for rape or kidnapping but I have first-hand experience of this in my childhood. Some creeps touch you on the pretext of putting colour on you but their hands are in the wrong places. And no these are not strangers, that's the saddest part.

Celebrate Holi in the rural parts of UP or for that matter any other state....you will understand why.....everywhere the boys just want to touch you on the pretext of putting colors...they show in the movies what happens in real...of course its a movie so exaggeration is there.....As long as we understand the true essence of Holika dehan and the true essence of Holi...people can get rid of the color wali Holi or learn to play like shareef people ...😳....Our Hindu festivals are not just random festivals....They all have a deep meaning and reason behind them...too bad Holi Diwali Rakshabandhan Karwachauth are all so commercialized now...it breaks my heart....even Navratri is all about dressing up and doing dance ....how many people know why navratri is celebrated...I would say not many...🤔

Instead of focusing on the religious festival looking bad, you should be focusing on other issues. Women are harassed in many crowded places including concerts, festivals, the streets. The point of that scene wasn't targeting Holi, it just happened to be a crowded setting. He could easily have said concert. Would people have started complaining that movies are making concerts look bad? You missed the whole point. It's not about making something look bad, it's about portraying the truth.
