Hey everyone,

I saw a few posts on Shiva/ Raavi last weekend, and was intrigued by their story. Honestly, childhood frenemies to love is my favorite trope. Since then, I've been watching a few clips and reading some of the stories here. I finally binge watched the episodes this weekend till the kidnapping track. I know things may have already evolved... but I wanted to write about the 3 couples.

Apologies for the long post. Tl;dr I loveeee Shiva/Raavi.

Shiva/ Raavi are the definition of 'its complicated'. Raavi considers him her family.. isliye humesha pura haq se order karti hai. Her ' Shiva utha mujhe' in the first fall scene to all the marriage scenes, Raavi shows him that she has expectations from him. ..par Shiva keeps rebuffing her. In fact, I think that his rudeness is an instinctive response to combat her overtures. Tho he does get too physical with her, I don't think he realizes it. When he gets hurt b/c of her chudiyan, pehle he has to blame her...yeh nahi realize karna ki usne itna tight haath pakda tha, isliye chudi tutti aur lagi. None of it affects Raavi lol. She continues to treat him exactly the same.

Shiva, on the other hand, thinks of her as the enemy. Like he said during mehendi, he's unable to forget ki woh maami ki behen ki beti hai. That's the main reason for his anger and hatred towards her. Regardless of that, he subconsciously cares for her...isliye toh dono baar suicide se bachane aaya. Even during haldi, he silently protects her from getting hurt...parvah hai par batana nahi hai smh. Of course, Raavi is completely oblivious to it lol.

Post marriage, there's a slight shift in both their attitudes. Raavi still has expectations from him. Her reaction to the fact that Shiva first left her maybe a bit hasty but she's too angry and heartbroken to think rationally. So she decides to hate him and not have any more expectations. For Shiva, I think for now, he accepts her as his responsibility. Shaadi ke baad, everyone said ke 'isse khush rakhna, dhyaan rakhna'... yeh bilkul seriously le liye hai. Jab pallu gira tha, he fixed it without her asking for help explicitly. His anger at that man for touching her, at Janardhan when she fainted, even at Rishita during grah pravesh; its all a bit different...maybe b/c we're visibly seeing this protective Shiva now.

I absolutely loveeeed the last scene before the trip where he lifts her and puts her to bed, especially with the song- 'kuch toh hai tujhse raabta; kaise hum jaane humein kya pata'

These lyrics are soooo appropriate. Shiva kehta hai ke sari zindagi saath kaise rehna hai...matlab shadi accept kar liya hai; par life partner ki tarah dono ne accept nahi kiya hai lol. Pehle childhood frenemies the.. par ab kya hai, kya pata. Lagta toh hai ki dono ek dusre ke liye hi bane ho.. lagta toh hai ke shadi rab ka ishara hai.. par kya raabta hai, kya pata.

Re Gaumbi/Dhara: they're adorbs!!! I think most people would want a similar relationship where there is love, respect, understanding.. all the nice things (albeit a bit too idealistic imo).. Their romance is also sweet... but sometimes it's toothache inducing sweetness. Like, I can watch 30 seconds..but then I needed to ff.

An interesting parallel between the 2 couples is the bachpan ki history. Gaumbi/ Dhara friends the aur ek dusre ki care bhi thi. Dhara cared about him and his family; Gaumbi also supported her. I guess isliye unki shaadi ko zabardasti ka tag nahi laga. It's also not surprising ke pyaar bhi hogaya. I'll admit that I haven't watched their full story as I mostly skipped pre-leap...but that's the vibe I get.

Shiva/ Raavi ka bachpan has been quite different. Raavi seems to care for him b/c he's part of the family that she considers hers… but Shiva ko usse kuch lena dena nahi rakhna b/c woh maami ki behen ki beti hai. Their personalities are also different than Gaumbi/ Dhara. Shiva is more volatile; Raavi is more naive. Inke toh bohot dhamake hai hone pyaar se pehle lol.

Side note: what is it with the names like maami ki behen ki beti, bhagodi ki beti? As if a person's identity is only through their parents and family...khud apne aap mein kuch bhi naa ho??? Shiva ka sirf thoda rude lagta hai (I could be biased lol)...but Maa ka toh is totally degrading and malicious. I hope gadhedi/gadheda, chipkali, bhootnath tak hi rahe...random taana type naam bhi chalega.

Re Dev/ Rishita: their relationship seems to involve a lottttt of manipulation and emotional blackmail. Rishita ka first scene se ek hi dialogue hai, 'Dev, tum mujhse pyaar nahi karte'. Shaadi bhi aise hi kar li lol. How their relationship survived for 2 years baffles me. I mean, how in the world, did Dev not get tired of constantly reassuring her? Their scenes are exhausting. I end up rolling up my eyes and ff it.

I gotta say that right now I only care for the Shiva/Raavi story b/c mujhe childhood story kaise evolve hoti hai dekhna hai...kuch toh hai tujhse raabta ka jawaab jaan na hai. However, I do understand ke baaki characters and puri family important hai. So I hope it's balanced and slightly more fast paced...itna ff nahi karna padega
