Is Stree a misandrist movie?

The movie shows a woman's ghost who abducts men after stripping off their clothes and it's supposed to be funny and justified because she faced injustice for being a woman in her mortal life.

We are supposed to feel bad for her because of that? So what if she didn't get respect because of being a courtesan? That gives her right to kill any random man?

Apart from this, the movie tries to show a parallel of how men face problems like women because of Stree, like they can't roam outside late at night, if they do then they should be in groups, and how they have to live in constant fear because of Stree.

Men facing problems like women are passed off as humour. So the movie tried to tap into the audience mentality of toxic masculinity to get laughs.

Also this theory of Pankaj Tripathi's character in the movie that Stree doesn't take anyone "forcefully like a man". She takes their "permission" by asking them, and no man could ever say no to her other than Rao's character.

Metaphorically this meant that women don't/can't rape or force someone to have sex like men....and men could never say no to sex. I don't need to tell how twisted this mentality is.

while I do agree abuse that men faced are being laughed off but misandrist doesn’t exist .. specially in this patriarch society ..

also movie seems to be a satire which showcases what women goes thru and still men has the guts to say feminism is a disease .. like this is what women faces , she don’t feel safe on walking alone at night cos god knows what can happen ..

Misandrist meaning according to Google.

a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against men.

Yep, these people very much exist. Also patriarchy hurts men as well.

If it's a satire then they could've done it by showing women facing these problems as well. But I suppose that would require more creativity.

The movie becoming automatically funny because the genders are reversed is nothing but tapping into the mentality of audience toxic masculinity.

that’s what satire is ? and a movie making fun of the things women go through in real life isn’t exactly funny or creative ..

Misandry doesn’t exist and even if it does it’s not that serious .. cos men aren’t oppressed in this society , they are the oppressors

A group that clearly enjoys the privilege in society, heterosexual males in India, hardly should be pitied when there's a satire that turns the tables for amusement. I'm sorry, am I supposed to feel sorry because SOME men are abused? Sure, I'm sure that in SOME cases it may be true. But when you compare to the percentage of women that are suppressed in society, professionals, personally, how many women are raped on a daily basis; then I'm sorry; I DONT feel sorry for men in a satire. Give me a break.

By that definition one of the highest rated American movies, Get Out, should also be criticized because of how it portrays white people 🙄

According to your logic, we shouldn't feel pity or sympathy for celebs either since they are also privileged.😆

So what if Rajeev Masand got covid?😆

He's rich and would get the best treatment available compared to poor people who are dying on streets and don't even have a place to get burried.😆

BTW, are all males heterosexual?

that’s not what toxic masculinity is

pointing out the the fact that women has it tough and has to go thru sexism every day doesn’t mean women are helpless , it’s just me stating how misogynist this society is

this is a satire and I am sorry should I feel bad that for once satire was being done at men’s expense ?

This is just a movie. I hear men raping women and men daily, main problem here is men. In school days, you can be fully covered or choose whatever you want to wear and there is always this pervert guy forcing himself into women who hates being touched. I have no sympathy for man kind, I am sorry. High percentage of men are the ones being evil bully, crimes, molesters, rapist, etc. Of course there were few women who were evil and bullies but never saw a women touching men without his approval, maybe it happens other places but never saw it. These men needs to be punished for their wrong doings. Women don’t feel safe going to school because of these men

So you think women are not helpless?

Then why it's not funny to make joke about their issues as a satire?

You know what's another problem? Generalizing and demonizing all men. Because of women like you men hate feminism. Why would they like a movement which wants them to get punished just for existing?

BTW what school you are talking about? This is the first time I'm hearing that boys in school could get away with molestation. Because one complaint to teacher would land them in big trouble. At least that's what happened in my school.

And women touching men without their approval isn't considered a big deal like men touching women. That's how society works.
