I loved this movie!! I wish they had followed it with more movies.
I never read the books but I have followed all of Anjan Dutt's Byomkesh movies where Abir was fantastic. I watched hoichoi web-series with Anirban last year. That was okay. Dibakar's Byomkesh was slick and exciting, edgier and fancier than the others. I loved the dark, mysterious 1940s Kolkata he created. I wanted to see more of it!! I hope someday he continues or another director familiar with Kolkata picks it up.
It's very much possible that other director might adapt Byomkesh into Hindi series or movie but sadly we will never get to see where Dibakar was going with this version of Byomkesh. I was recently watching the behind the scenes of the movie and Dibakar literally had an entire series in his mind. It was probably his dream project. The detail he had put in every little thing was commendable. It's sad to see a dream fail like this.
