Shrutkirti n Mandavi were not there when they were leaving for exile. Laxman might have thought that Mandavi will not serve Dasrath, Kausalya n Sumitra after becoming queen. He might have thought that Shrutkirti the youngest in the family will be overburdened n there must be at least two daughter in laws to take care of Sumitra, Kausalya n Dasrath

Please don't compare who was more obedient n who was less obedient. Both of them r great n they did what they should do in such a situation. Both of them followed there DHARMA perfectly. Whem Ram agreed to take Sita with him he was not aware of the fact that Laxman will also request him that he want to accompany him. Sita also was not aware of the fact that Laxman will request to accompany them.

yes both were great but what i am trying to say is SIta had more impact on Ram than Urmilal on LAxman

Urmillaobeyed laxman and did what he asked her to do, word byw ord

while sita with her personality convinced ram that she will and must come along

urmilla was of a little docile nature i guess

Sita was not aware that laxman will request to accompany them. Ram was not inclined to take laxman with him. He told him that he had duties towards other family members also.

Laxman spent those 14 years as a true TAPASVI without sleeping. He used to eat less so that he can keep himself awake. That's why only he was able to kill Meghnad

its just that when sita said she wud go wid ram it was her dharma
and wen lakshman asked urmila to stay back.she followed her dharma by proving lakshman's confidence on her right...
