I am not sure how much another director is willing to address the movie's religious part. Jeo Baby (Director) is so direct with his criticism; He started his work in showbiz by doing a movie about a gay couple while studying in a Christian management college, had a tiff with priests and got expelled. He is very verbal about the contempt for the priests and religions, that's why he started the movie with "Thanks Science" instead of "Thank God".

The songs sung by the Dalit maid was written by one of my friend who is a Dalit activist. Jeo baby saw that on Facebook asked her for the movie.

It is written in Paluva language (a secret language from the paraya dalit community in Kerala, also used as a code language to escape from the attacks of dominant castes).

Though the intensity is comparatively less, I have born and bought up in a similar Nair traditional family . The irony is Nair's are traditionally matrilineal and matriarchal community but the truth is the elder male of the family is the head and female is actually rubber stamp in most of the cases .When I was young , the womenfolk were not allowed to come outside the portico when the men are engaged in serious discussion, the women were not supposed to raise voice . When I was in the joint family I was not allowed to sleep in the bed during periods, we were allowed to sit only in metal chairs . These were one of the reason I have become a rebel I guess and unlike the main character in the movie , I have applied the knowledge I gained from sociology in my life .

Seriously every woman in india watching it can identify with it. How much of our time and energy goes in this thankless unacknowledged work. Why don't we get more angry about it

Fantastic

I believe most of the women are aware that the destiny is unfair to them ,those who have got proper education know that it is not the destiny but the system is unfair .

These days you can see many review and reaction video regarding this movie and many of the men after watching this movie started washing their plates . Most probably they will stop doing this after one week once the impact is gone, but the success of this movie is, it made men think about the unrecognised and unacknowledged injustice against women in their own family.

I randomly watched this movie yesterday and it had me shook! It was honestly like someone put a camera up in any random womans house and was just recording. It was so realistic and repetitive, I started to feel suffocated coz I remember doing that kitchen work every night growing up as the oldest daughter. The disgusting table manners scene was super triggering, I actually had to pause 😂 I'm glad that life is behind me. Never again.
