I would say he was made to feel victimized. Every time something went wrong, Devi didn't leave the chance to bring in Aastha and blame it on her head. So even if Shaurya wanted to forget and move on, he was never allowed to. Despite the fact that he was neglected by his parents, he could eventually still have found his own happiness. We all have coping mechanisms and ways of forgetting things that pain us. While the pain of being abandoned would still be a dull ache somewhere in the bottom of his heart and back of his mind, but not like it is today. His condition today is like he's been made to suffocate with the knowledge that he was abandoned, never go a single day without being reminded of this painful fact.
As to his reaction to Shagun's choice, he was never as emotionally attached to her the way he is to Anokhi (without realizing it though).
