Hello. This is my first fanfiction. The characters are same but plot is a bit different. Please let me know what you think of it.
"Aa...choo!" the sizzle of red chilli in oil caused Kalyani's eyes to tear up."Aai", she let her arms around Anupriya, "What are you doing in the kitchen? Everyone has dressed up their best for the party at Malhotra mansion and here you are among haldi and garam masala."
"Kalyani," Anupriya put the kadhai on the gas stove, "You know na I don't like these parties and especially on today..."
"I know Aai how Swara's death affects you even today but what could anyone do? She herself wrote in her suicide note that she killed herself because of her brother's wrongdoing."
"But Malhar didn't..." Anupriya stopped midway. Aau Saheb's threat for Kalyani reverberated in her mind.
Kalyani felt a shiver in her spine on hearing Malharji's name. Even two years ago when those things didn't happen, she knew she shouldn't have felt for him that way. He was just her tuition teacher, and a tenant in Ahalya Niwas. But one day when she was not able to prove a theorem and he took the notebook from her to explain it and their hands brushed in the process, she realised she didn't just see him as a teacher. She knew Deshmukh family didn't like Malhar Rane as he was too poor in front of their status but the heart wants what it wants. "I'm innocent, Kalyani. Please believe me," Malhar's tear stained face was always in her mind.
"Where is Atharv?" Kalyani thought. As usual, he was taking the usual one and a half hour to dress up and apply glow and handsome on his face. Honestly, Atharv irritated her to the core but Aau Saheb and Pallavi emotionally blackmailed Kalyani to get engaged to him.
"Where is Godavari?" Aau Saheb was wearing her best saree and had even applied some makeup.
"I'm here," Godavari said.
"I hope Goda catches that Hrishaan Malhotra's eyes and maybe my Athu manages to impress him so that he give a job to him. We are lucky that such a billionaire chose to arrive at Aurangabad."
"He's self made, you know," Godavari said, "He has built his empire completely from the scratch.
The Deshmukh family reached Malhotra mansion an hour before the party time. Kalyani felt a strange sensation in her skin as if something big was going to happen and the night held its breath in the anticipation. The mansion was bigger than the ones shown in movie and too extravagant to be in Aurangabad.
After an hour, she heard the familiar voice from the past,"I hope I didn't make you wait longer and if I did, well, I don't care."
